Ash along with his sister Linda, his girlfriend Shelly, and his friends Scotty and Cheryl go to an isolated cabin deep in the woods. In the basement, Ash and Scotty discover the 'Necrommekon', or Book of the Dead, along with some tapes left by a professor. Scotty plays the tapes for fun, but Linda is so scared by it, she tells them to turn it off. Later Linda hears noises outside the cabin and goes out to look, thinking it's one of the guys playing a prank. The trees come alive and attack her. She makes it back to the cabin and tells them all she wants to leave. (Of course no one can leave) Ash listened to the tape with headphones on, so he heard the part that said to dismember the undead to get rid of them. Linda soon turns into a zombie and what follows is a great horror story.
