Harris Jones

Harris Jones in:

One of the first Skipsterfilms to show potential, "Harris Jones" was a great example of what some adlibbing ability can create. With only three actors, nominal preparation, limited time and no script, Darryl, Damon, and Damon's little sister Ashley created a classic.

Plot

The plot is basically as follows- The story follows two decendants of Indiana Jones: Harris and his cousin that work in the fashion of Abbot and Costello. In the tradition of Indy movies, this has references to incidents in the Holy Bible. This time the duo is after the Staff of Moses, which is reputed to contain the powers of God. Whether or not it does is never confirmed (due to a budget of zip), but along the way they find themselves woven into a web of intrigue, involving three agents from the Kremlin and one mercenary agent from the CIA posing as an actor filmming in Moscow.

A first attempt at editing and directing, this is also the film where it was discovered that at a certain point, it is no longer safe to have Ashley as a key character. We could do nothing for over an hour, because she would suddenly decide she didn't want to act for another second. We still can't figure this mysterious phenomenon out, but it also happened in the middle of "Hacker 1" (in the middle of a scene, she got mad and said, "that's it, I quit.") A director's nightmare? I think so.

All in all, this was a good accomplishment, and has paved the way for a sequel and a semi-remake. The characters have changed and the budget has increased. Not substantially, but it has increased.
