All the wonders of Canadian Imperialsm solved here!

IN

There have been few experiences that have been as satisfying as seeing the final edits of our "Imperialism in Canada" documentary (at 1:30 in the morning). It will go down in history as one of the few homework assignments we've worked on for more than one or two nights! A month's hard work payed off last June as our Social 20 class viewed the film for the first time. Since then the video has been circulated from person to person, with numerous copies made and a permanent home in our school's library. Beyond that, we got 107% on the project and 2 credits for the technical knowlegde and work shown.

Although it should be noted that we did basically no research, it was Darryl's firm belief that "...if we have to research for something we've studied in school for four years it's an insult to the entire education system!". There was no script. There was minimal preparation prior to filming. It quite honestly seemed that everything just "came together"- we needed swords, so we got out the tin foil and electrical tape. We needed a Beothuk indian costume, I went to the closet and found one. We needed a second television, a stereo and a mixer for edits, and dad suddenly appeared with all three. It just worked out. And it was a hell of a lot of fun.

So, read on! Discover all sorts of interesting documentary goodies (well, as soon as I get them online). Enjoy. We did!

PICTURES!

More will be online soon (once I find the video and grab some stills), but for now you'll have to settle for editting pics and a couple candids. Well, I suppose it's better than nothing ;)
