Just to explain, Party Program is an educational workshop that exists to prevent alchol/drug related accidents. A group of us volunteered to take part in a mock accident that they staged for our school. Basically they drug some smashed up cars out in front of Pratt, stuck us in 'em, and treated the whole situation as though it was a real accident (complete with EMT's, police officers and victim services). I kind of "commandeered" the special fx part of the production, and was actually pretty damn proud of how Tracy ended up looking (although it should be noted that her ability to lie on the pavement like that for 40 minuted in the negative degrees celsius played a large role in how effective she looked). But, in general, the fx were pretty effective.
I don't like to editorialize (although I'm gonna), but anyone who drinks and then drives should really stop and think about what they're doing. Simply acting in this was absolutely terrifying- I was cut out of a car by the jaws of life, put on a spine board and taken away in the ambulance. While riding away, my EMT, Steve, explained the injuries I probably would have from the accident (including head injuries, broken ribs and a crushed pelvis). It was very, very frightening, and I can't imagine anyone putting themself and others at risk for actually having it happen.
Well, that said, here are two pictures that show the make-up effects pretty well.
