(Pic drawn by Miranda)
-- Name: Jaq Quicksilver
-- Age: 21
-- Appearance: Pristine white feathers, sharp black eyes, jet black hair cut short and neat like a gentleman's. She's about average height, but looks tall because she's lanky and unusually thin like an adolescent boy. She might have been attractive to men if only she acted like a female. Her overall effect is that of a snobby, polished young man with a feminine touch...something the ladies seem to be attracted to.
-- Garb: Half the time, Jaq's showing off stylish tailored suits; the other half, she's sporting smart pants under a jacket of some sort.
-- Blade(s): A shortsword with a black hilt and a diamond at the butt, and two silver daggers. Her sheaths are plain black.
-- Stone(s): diamonds
-- Jersey: 14
-- Special: master of disguise
-- Style: "Jaq be nimble, Jaq be quick..." Jaq takes this old nursery rhyme to heart and really outdoes herself. Combining the arts of Tiger and Snake style, she's very lithe, moving with lightning feints and darts. She's very good at thinking on her feet and knows how to take advantage of the situation. Also, she has a way of smiling at her opponent, much like a cat smiles at a mouse before pouncing. She's very good at intimidation, which might be key to winning a battle, and she has a way of playing with her opponent's mind.
-- Accent: half the time it's Ingallish (English) and half the time it's Remaican (Puckworld American)--all depends on the audience. Either way, her voice is very smooth and charming, and rather neuter and neutral--which often leaves her acquaintances wondering whether they were speaking with a male or female, and whether he or she was mocking them or being sincere.
-- Personality: although very composed and aristocratic, Jaq still isn't what you'd call a proper lady. She's quite masculine in many ways and is rather gallant and full of good humor, more like a gentleman than a lady. Charming and mischievous, she's the kind of person who knows exactly how to get what she wants. Her manner is so "distant" and complex that she's more often referred to as "Quicksilver" than as "Jaq."
-- Story: Jaq Quicksilver is a bundle of mystery. She doesn't talk about her past, and she doesn't make any claims to prove or disprove any of the theories that follow her. Rather "correct" in the way she walks, talks, and acts in general (...disregarding the fact that she's a thief), Jaq has always come off as aristocratic (and downright masculine when not minding herself). She even has a pair of silver daggers that are strikingly similar to the ones Eva Whitewing, daughter of Lord and Lady Whitewing, had before she died...
The noble family of Whitewing had served in Puckworld politics since the time of Drake DuCaine. Political sessions were often held in the Whitewing Manor. Always, the politicians would be delighted when little Eva presented herself and performed a quick little routine with her silver daggers. Twelve years ago, however, the family was thrust into poverty when Lord Whitewing's long-time rival, Lord Hookbill, uncovered a scandal that the Whitewings had been involved in two hundred years ago. Hookbill took his discovery right to the media, and the public demanded that the Whitewings of their day be punished for what they did two hundred years ago. Thus, the Whitewings were stripped of their riches and good name. Two years after that, the bodies of Lord and Lady Whitewing were found dead in an alley. They had apparently died from a virus. It was assumed that little Eva Whitewing had died sooner and was already buried, though her body was never found. It was just around this time that a certain homeless boy danced into the slums of DuCaine Metropolis.
Jack Quicksilver was a dashing little boy who became the Prince of Thieves, stealing from the rich for the poor, though he never claimed to be a Robin Hood. He was more commonly called the "Prince of Justice" by those whom he helped. The five years that he roamed the slums were whispered to be the Silver Years. For those five years, he unselfishly distributed food and clothing and fought for those who were too weak to fight for themselves. He had a certain pair of silver daggers, much like Eva Whitewing's, that he would snap out at a second's notice. He was known to be a constant flirt, but never became particularly intimate with anyone. And although it was obvious that all the poor adored him, Jack seemed to prefer being alone when not do-gooding. At the end of these five years, however, Jack Quicksilver mysterious disappeared. It was rumored that his disappearance had something to do with the noble Flashstar family moving to DuCaine Metropolis.
Dirk Flashstar, who must have been around the same age as Jack Quicksilver, had decided to grace the slums with his presence. He bought a pocket-knife from one of the homeless urchins. It was then that the name of Eva Whitewing was raised again. A day or so after buying the pocket-knife, Dirk Flashstar was constantly being seen with a mysterious beauty who called herself Eva Whitewing. Their relationship was a strange one. There was an air of danger and excitement around them, which attracted a type of positive attention, and it always seemed more like Eva was the leader and Dirk the devoted follower. This was when Jack became less and less conspicuous in the slums. Only a couple days after Dirk and Eva began their tentive courtship, the Flashstar estate caught on fire; Dirk died in the smoke, and it was believed that Eva died, too. Once again, however, the body of an Eva Whitewing was never found.
A year after the Flashstar fire and the disappearances of Jack Quicksilver and Eva Whitewing, a young duck, named Jaq Quicksilver, with a clouded past joined the Brotherhood of the Blade. Whether or not Jaq Quicksilver was Jack Quicksilver or Eva Whitewing is still unclear. There is little solid evidence supporting the theory. Of course, there are her silver daggers and her tendency to act and refer to herself as a boy... Often, when she walks down the streets of DuCaine Metropolis, some homeless beggar will catch sight of her and whisper under their breath,"...it's the ghost of Jack..." Even if the theories are true, however, Jaq is doing quite a good job of covering up any emotional scars that might have arisen in less than ten years.
-- Overheard: "My lady, I am charmed to be in the presence of such beauteous company."
"Your smile is as sweet as the scent of this rose and as breathtaking as its subtle thorns. Come, slay me with that smile again."
"Come now, my sisters; the night is young and beckoning. Let us see what mysteries are out playing beyond this velvety dark curtain."
"The rooftops are our stage, the night our curtain, and the stars our stagelights."
