Admiral Ackbar
While he was a slave under Grand Moff Tarkin, he learned many of the Imperials tactics and defenses. Ackbar was saved from his slavery under a failed assasination against Grand Moff Tarkin. Right after his release, he returned to his homeworld of Mon Calamari and convinced his normally peaceful people to join the rebellion. With him he brought an impressive Mon Calamari fleet. After the battle of Yavin, Ackbar drew up a plan for dealing with Imperial escort frigates. He convinced the rebellion leadersthat their best bet would be a new Starfighter, at least until more funds could be allocated to build capital ships that could take on the larger imperial ships. He took the help of the Verpine, a race known for their master ship building skills, and constructed the B-wing starfighter. After the rebellion seized control of most of the old Empire and established the New Republic, Admiral Ackbar has served as Commander-in-Chief of the New Republic armed forces. He also holds a seat in the Provinsonal council and is a member of the ruling Inner Council of the New Republic.
