Anakin Skywalker
In Star Wars Episode I: Phantom Menace Anakin is a disheveled nine-year-old with blue eyes. He is an earnest and hardworking boy who lives in the slave quarters of Mos Espa, on the planet Tatooine. A natural mechanic, he has a keen intuition with equipment and machinery. He can sense what makes an engine work. Leading a very humble life, Anakin dreams of becoming a starpilot and longs for a world of adventure. Good at heart, hopeful and optimistic, this young boy little suspects the destiny and fearful challenges that await him.
Eventually, from what we learn in Episodes IV through VI, Anakin becomes a Jedi pupil of Obi Wan Kenobi. He learns the ways of a Jedi, but before his training is complete, he is seduced by the Emperor Palpatine and the Dark Side of the Force. In a battle with Kenobi, he falls into a laven pit. The only way ha can now survive is with the help of a breathing machine. It is in this form that most of us recognize him...as Darth Vader. As Vader, Anakin helps the Dark Side of the Force and the Galactic Empire, headed by Palpatine, through many missions. when he learns of his son, he is determined to make him join him...or die. By the end of the trilogy, Luke enabeled Vader to see the good in himself and Anakin overtakes the Emperor and kills him. Anakin is able to die in peace with himself and with Luke, knowing that he will forever be a Jedi Knight.
