This was one of the neatest things we did! The road to the falls rose
up and up and up above the valley. You had a terrific view of the sand dunes
from the parking lot. It was another half mile up to the falls and the head
of the hiking trail that continues up to a lake. |

Walking up this high is always a challenge for me. Although I don't get
the nausea part of altitude sickness, I gasp like a fish out of water. But
I was determined to go to the falls. Michael walked ahead and let me come
at my own pace. There were benches with wonderful views. |
And I made it! It was beautiful up there. The path was steep but easy
to walk. |

The falls were a bit frozen over. This is the trail to go higher. There
was a lot of ice there. We'll have to wait until a warmer time to go further. |
|
There was little temptation to swim when all you can see is a bit of water
trickling underneath the snow. |

I certainly wasn't going to swim in this! |
