'Someone...Somewhere...is made for you...' 'Dil To Pagal Hai' comes like a breath of fresh air and restores the audience's belief that true love in fact does exist...in classy Yash Chopra style...!
Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) is a play writer and director. He is successful, young and ambitious and it is these qualities which attract his friend Nisha (Karisma Kapoor) towards him. Nisha truly loves him but Rahul loves her only as a friend.
Their team get together and plan a new stage show but Nisha injures herself and as a result Rahul is forced to find someone as fresh and talented as her. He stumbles upon Pooja (Madhuri Dixit) and is sure that she will be able to play the role perfectly.
Initially Nisha resents her but then graciously accepts and welcomes her into the group. Rahul and Pooja are instantly attracted to each other but Pooja is hesitant since she is already committed to her childhood friend Ajay (Akshay Kumar)
How Pooja and Rahul's relationship blooms into love form the crux of the story...
Well what can I say about Yash Chopra's latest flick except that it's hard to pick out any flaws in it.
Shah Rukh Khan looks good but he should think of doing something different now. It's still however, a pleasure to watch him on screen. Madhuri Dixit...well what can we say about her...she looks beautiful and fresh...why doesn't she do something like this more often...? Her outfits are good, her performance is great...atta girl! Karisma Kapoor has a comparitively small role but I'd rate her performance even greater than 'Raja Hindustani'. She truly excels in a scene where she thinks she's evil because she loves Shah Rukh. Her performance remains etched into one's heart long after the three hour duration of the movie. Akshay Kumar is okay in a guest appearance. As usual Farida Jalal is a delight to watch as is Aruna Irani. It's good to see Deven Verma after some time as well.
Cinematography by Manmohan Singh is brilliant (as usual). The choreography by Shamak Davar and Farah Khan is one of the major highlights of the movie. The music by Uttam Singh is already on top of the charts.
Direction by Yash Chopra is excellent as always. Not once is the viewer subjected to mindless violence...not even a slap on the cheek in fact. It's a definite thubs up for this one...it's Shah Rukh's best (well on par with DDLJ anyway), Madhuri's best (yup better than HAHK) and Karisma's best as well. Puhleeze... don't watch this one on pirate...I insist you watch it on the big screen...
