This page is offered as a tutorial about how to take any address on the internet and make it a room or background for your chats in VPlaces. I have created some pages which make great backdrops for rooms in VP, and I would like to share with those of you who don't know, how to get these pages to show up in VP. Follow these directions:
First of all, click a link below which will open one of the pages I have designed. Toward the top of your screen, you will see a little white window with a www address within it. It should look something like this:
That is the address of the paricular link you clicked on. To make that page a bacground in VP, you highlight the address (left click, hold the button down, drag to cover the entire address, let go) and then right click. Choose "copy" from the menu. That will store the address in your computer temporarily. Log into VPlaces just like you always do. When it is finished loading, you will notice an address window toward the top of your screen again. In VP, this window is labeled "Location." Erase the address that is there, and once it is completely clear, click to make your cursor flash within that box. When you see your cursor flashing, right click, and then choose "paste" from the menu. That will place the address you highlighted earlier into the location box. Hit enter, and my page should appear as a room with a nice background.
Instead of repeating that process everytime you want to visit that room, you should save it to your Favorite Places in VP. To do that, you click on "Go" which is located on the gray tool bar at the top of your VP screen. Then click "Favorite Places", then click "Add To Favorites." When you click "Go" and "Favorite Places" again, my room will be listed there for you to click on which will send you directly there.
If you have trouble, or if I have not explained something clearly enough, feel free to e-mail me with questions. I love helping people learn more about their computer and the internet. Enjoy!
