Gripe Sessions - Gripes include but are not limited to the following:

ALERT! Pepperdine University's MA in Ed with Credential CLAD program is not living up to its stellar reputation!
The masters program is, but the credentialing ISN'T. Problem is: if you do not pass ONE TEST, the Multiple Subject Assessment for Teachers, you are academically prohibited from continuing with student teaching phase 2 (of 3 total). You better be a good test taker! This process is discriminitory, alienates/isolates students from those that do pass, & is interruptive seeing as though phase 1 is already completed. There is a 30,000 teacher shortage in CA & the Commission on Teacher Credentialing is encouraging these institutions to make this requirement a prerequisite to enrollment, which makes complete sense. There is absolutely no preparation or support within the Pepperdine program, who "doesn't think it is fair to make the MSAT a PRErequisite" & doesn't require it until in the middle of the program, rather than at the end! They already require the CBEST prior to enrollment, why not the MSAT? It would save a lot of people a lot of unnecessary pressure, heartache, grief and agony.
What do you think about this? If I had known the true impact of this, I would have looked at another program (& was). But their main job is to hook you from the beginning so they can get your $20+G (for 1 year!). I wrote a letter to Interim Dean Cannings and the CCTC, but will most likely not get any response. If you are in a similar situation, please email me and perhaps we could get a petition going so no one has to go through this alone.

BEWARE OF TEMPORARY AGENCIES! They are exploiting you!
While you make $13/hour, they bill you out at $26! Doesn't make sense when you walk into their office, they didn't "find" you although if you go with a company they charge the company a steep "finders fee" (often times a years salary). Most times they will NOT work with the rate you desire, because they know they can find someone who will always work for less. Don't be that person! Don't settle for that $9/hour rate when you have the skills, experience & education!

INTERSECTION CAMERAS are in violation of the U.S. Constitution Right to Privacy!
These cameras at various Los Angeles intersections are trying to enforce people from running red lights. Personally for me it causes anxiety as I speed up to hope I make it before it turns yellow to red. And what if I'm in the intersection waiting to turn left & there is no left arrow? What this city needs is public transportation like New York & Boston have - A SUBWAY! That would cut down on traffic congestion & make life so much easier.

If you don't like something while driving, don't use your car! I wish they would have passed that law about not being able to use your cell while driving...
