K's Choice
Back to Stuff
K's Choice Live In South Africa!!! For me the major highlight of 2005 has been that I got to see Sarah and Gert perform live, as K's Choice, at a nightclub in Pretoria on the 8th October!!! It was magic! They were absolutely amazing and I got the opportunity to say hi to them, buy their solo albums, and get their autographs as well! Also got some awesome photos which you can check out right here. (I'm such a groupie, I know!)
About K's Choice
These guys have been my favourite band for a long time now so I decided I might as well mention them on my site. Then maybe those of you who haven't heard of them might decide to get hold of some of their stuff and will perhaps enjoy it as much as I do! Even if you think you've never heard of them you might in fact realise that you know at least one of their songs - Not An Addict. I've met a lot of people who haven't got a clue who K's Choice are but who know that song. Anyway, in case you're interested - I'm going to tell you a little bit more about them. I hope I get everything right but I'm not an expert so I can't guarantee that I've got all the facts straight.
They're a Belgian band. There are 5 of them in the band - 3 guys and one girl. Two of them (Gert and Sarah Bettens) are brother and sister and they write and sing all the songs. The other guys do all the back-up instrument stuff. As you can see, I'm getting very technical here! :) They've basically released 5 studio albums: The Great Subconscious Club, Paradise In Me, Cocoon Crash, Almost Happy, and 10 (which is a "best of" album with a couple of new songs). And I've now got all of them!!! Plus I've got the Live album!!! It's awesome!
I'm still trying to get hold of a DVD that they released in 2003 at the same time as the '10' CD - the DVD is also called '10' because they'd been going for ten years when it was released and it's got all their music videos and stuff on it!! So, that's definitely next on my agenda!
Although Not An Addict was their first big hit I first heard of them in 1998 when Everything For Free was on Mtv. I adored that song!! Then soon afterwards I saw Believe (also on Mtv) and decided "wow, I really like this stuff". Then, even better, Mtv put them on that 3-from-1 slot and they played Not An Addict, Believe, and Everything For Free one after another!! But I'd still never seen their albums anywhere!! Luckily for me my dad was going on a business trip to Holland so I looked up the name of their latest album (which at the time was Cocoon Crash) and asked him to get it for me. The rest is history ...
They've kind of taken a break at the moment to pursue solo careers but I think there's still a good possibility they'll get back together in the future. And the up-side is that Sarah released her new solo album, Scream, at the end of 2004 and Gert has formed his own band called Woodface and just released his album, Good Morning Hope, last month (August 2005). Both albums are great!
Anyway, please do yourself a favour and try listening to them - I promise they're really cool. If you wanna know more about them go to my Links page for some more K's Choice sites. (And just in case you're wondering about the background writing on my web pages - they're lyrics from K's Choice songs.)
