R.Ö.K.

1983-1984.

The punk and rockband R.Ö.K. was founded in Garðabær, Iceland the first day of summer in 1983 by too guys...the guitarist and composer Ríkharður Örn(Rikki) and the Drummer Kristján Ásvaldsson(Stjúni). To begin with, the name of the band was...The Coffins( a very christian name uh!), but later it was changed to R.Ö.K.

In the middle of may ´83 I joined the band, Thorhallur Gauti(Tóti), as a bassist and composer. In the summer of ´83, the band had a few gigs. At that time Marino joined the band as a second guitarist, but it wasn´t until the beginning of october, the band played the biggest concert of all times in Garðabær, namely on the opening of the community center for the teenagers in the town, and the band made a success, the band went famous over one night in that town. That is a band that will never be forgotten! At least not in Garðabær.

Later on, in the beginning of ´84, Arndís Halla(Halla), joined the band as vocalist, and what a vocalist. Her voice could break a glass easily. And the fans just loved here...Right. At simulaar time the second guitarist(Marino) Quit the band and left the four of them all alone, but that did´nt stop their success. It was not until me(Tóti) and Halla quit the band, me in august ´84 and Halla at simulaar time, that the bands days were over.

At last we cannot forget to mention the part Ólafur Helgi(Óli), Played in the bands success. He was the man behind the band, carrying the amplifers and other bands instruments. Thank you Óli...We love you all!
