Scott Baldwin walks down the stairs and sits next to Alexis on the couch. Alexis looks up from the file she is going over, "Is Serena asleep?"

"No. Actually she wants you to come up and say goodnight," he picks up a stack of files from the coffee table.

A huge smile spreads across Alexis' face, her eyes lighting up, "Really?"

"Yep. She said she would not go to sleep until you came up to kiss her goodnight," Scott reaches up and brushes her hair off her face. "Now go up and kiss my kid so she can go to sleep."

Alexis smiles again before she walks out of the living room. She goes upstairs and gently knocks on Serena's door. Serena sits up and smiles, "You came!"

"Of course I came," Alexis slowly walks over to the bed and sits next to Serena.

Serena looks at Alexis, "Can I sit in your lap?" Alexis nods her head and Serena moves from under the covers to sit on Alexis' lap. She rests her head on Alexis' shoulder, "Is it okay of I call you Lexi?"

Alexis smiles at the name, "I think I'd like you to call me Lexi."

"Daddy says you don't like to be called that," Serena laughs as she snuggles closer to Alexis.

She tightly wraps her arms around Serena and smiles, "Don't tell your father this, but I like it when he calls me that."

Serena bites her lip, deciding whether or not she should say this. "Lexi, I think my daddy really likes you."

Scott starts to walk into Serena's room, but stops when he hears her statement. He leans against the wall and listens to the conversation.

Alexis takes a deep breath, "Why do you think that?"

"Because he's so happy when you're here and when you're not here all he does is talk about you."

"He does?," Alexis she asks, smiling as she plays with Serena's hair.

"Yeah." Serena turns and faces Alexis. "When daddy's case is over will I still get to see you? Because I would be really sad if you didn't come over anymore."

"I hope I'll still come over." She pulls Serena into a hug. "I'd be really sad if I didn't get to see you anymore, either." Alexis gently kisses her head, "Now, I think it's time for you to go to sleep."

Serena looks at Alexis and sticks out her lower lip, "Do I have to?"

Alexis laughs and picks Serena up, "Yes, you have to. You have to go to school in the morning." She puts Serena in her bed and tucks her in. "Now is there anything you need before I leave?"

Serena sits up, "Just a hug and a kiss." Alexis leans down and hugs Serena and then places a kiss on her forehead. "Lexi, will I see you tomorrow?"

"Probably, your dad and I still have a lot of work to do."

Serena smiles, "Good. I like it when I get home from school and you're here."

Scott walks into the room and walks up behind Alexis. He puts his hands on her shoulders, "I thought you were just going to give her a kiss so she could go to sleep."

"Daddy, can't I stay up with you and Lexi, please?," she asks sticking out her lip again.

"No baby. Lexi, I mean ALEXIS, and I have a lot of work to do."

"Daddy, Lexi told me she really does like you to call her Lexi," she looks up at Alexis and smiles.

Alexis' mouth drops open and she tries not to laugh, "Serena, that was supposed to be a secret."

Serena laughs, "I know, but I though he should know." Scott sits down next to Serena, "Ok, you. I think you better go to sleep before you tell anymore secrets."

Serena reaches up and wraps her arms around Scott, "I love you Daddy."

"I love you too, Baby," Scott kisses her cheek. "Now, I'm serious, go to sleep."

Serena lays her head down, "Ok. Goodnight, Lexi."

Alexis kisses her fingers and gently touches Serena's cheek, "Sweet dreams, Sweetheart."

Scott takes Alexis' hand and he leads her into the hall. He turns off the light in Serena's room and closes the door part of the way. Alexis starts walking down the hall. "Lexi."

Alexis stops and turns towards Scott, "What?"

Scott walks to Alexis and stares into her eyes for a moment before he pulls her into his arms. He kisses her deeply, his tongue gently caressing hers. Scott slowly breaks the kiss and smiles, "God, I've wanted to do that since the first time I laid eyes on you."

Alexis bites her lip and finally smiles, "What took you so long?"

He reaches up and runs his hand down her cheek, "I guess I didn't want you scare you."

Alexis closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, "Who said I wasn't scared?" her voice barely above a whisper. Scott takes a step back from Alexis and starts down the stairs when she grabs his hand. "Wait." She closes her eyes again, not believing what she is about to do. She leans in and kisses him passionately as she untucks his shirt.

Scott's hands move up to her blouse and he quickly begins to unbutton it. His mouth descending onto her soft skin, "Let's go into my room," he whispers between kisses.

Alexis suddenly pulls back, "What about Serena? . . . We can't do this." She starts to button her blouse when Scott takes her hands.

"I'm sure Serena's already asleep, but let me check just to be sure," he gently kisses her before he walks into Serena's room. He comes back out a minute later and pulls Alexis into his arms. "She's fast asleep."

She runs her hands down his arms, "Are you sure this is okay? What if she wakes up?"

Scott places a finger over her lips, "Don't worry. If she does wake up we'll handle it." He pulls Alexis into a passionate kiss, his hands moving up into her hair. He slowly begins walking towards his bedroom, his lips never moving from Alexis'. When they get to his room he finally breaks the kiss. Alexis walks over to the bed while Scott locks the door. He turns and faces her, staring at her for a moment before he walks closer to her, "God, you're gorgeous."

Alexis smiles nervously. She slides her hands under Scott's shirt, running her hands up his back. He holds her tightly as he kisses her neck. Scott hugs her tightly, "Will you spend the night?"

Alexis sits up holding the sheet to her chest, "I don't think that's a good idea, Scott."

"Why not?," Scott props himself up on his elbow to look at her.

She looks away from him, "I just don't think it is."

He takes her chin in his hand and he turns her head to look at him, "Is this because of Serena?" Alexis takes a deep breath. "Lexi, Serena loves you."

Alexis looks away from him again, "That's the problem." Scott closes his eyes. "After spending these past few weeks with her. . .with you . . .," she takes a deep breath and softly continues, "I've found something here that I never thought I would find."

Scott runs his hand down her cheek, "What have you found, Lex?"

Alexis slowly turns to him, "Happiness, understanding, trust. . ."

He slowly traces her lips with his finger, "Love?"

She bites her lip and closes her eyes, "I. . .I don't know. I do know that I've fallen completely in love with that incredible little girl who's sleeping two doors down from us. But I don't know what's happening between us."

Scott smiles, "Alexis, in case you missed it, I'm falling in love with you." He gently caresses her cheek. "I just look at you and I feel a part of my heart come back to life. In the mornings when I wake up I wish you were here next to me and every night when you go home all I want to do is beg you to stay," he leans in to kiss her.

Alexis pulls back from him, shaking her head, "Don't say that."

He grabs her wrists and gently pulls her back to him, "Why not? Sweetheart, what's wrong with that? I love you."

She looks into his eyes, "Because it scares me. Actually, it terrifies me. Of all the relationships I've ever had, if you can even call them relationships, this is the happiest I've ever been. . .and it terrifies me because I'm just waiting for something to screw it up," tears slowly find their way down her cheeks, "and it's usually me who screws it up."

"Alexis, it can't be you. You're perfect." Alexis laughs through her tears. "You are. . .at least I think you are. Okay, sometimes you're pushy and maybe a little snobby." Alexis opens her mouth to protest, but Scott quickly covers her mouth with his, "But I love you anyway and so does Serena." He gently kisses her again, "We could make this work, Lex."

She reaches up and runs her hand down his face, "You really think so?"

Scott pulls her into his arms, "I don't think so. . .I know so."

Alexis pushes Scott down onto the bed and she straddles him, sitting on his stomach. She leans forward, kissing him deeply. Scott runs his hands down her back as their tongues gently touch.
