Here is one of the reasons I decided to take back the Canon A5. The camera has TTL exposure control. For flash shots it preflashes to measure how to set the camera. That might help it meter better but it causes kitties to close their eyes everytime. It also has a tendancy to have a severe case of flash wash for closer pics.

If I can find the time, before I return it, I'll post a few more shots from the Canon A5.

Another problem cropped up with the Canon. The in-store model had a sticky lens protecter. If the lens protecter can't move you are dead in the water. I attributed the sticky protecter to floor model abuse. A few days after picking up my new camera it's lens protecter stuck open. I cycled it off and on and it would make a sickening scrathy sound as it unsuccessfully tried to move the cover. No functions would work. I was able to pry the cover as I cycled it and it became unstuck...scary...return time.
