The Lost by Technology
Today, the world is lost in the wilderness brought by the latest technology. There is a silent chaos happening around us. Probably almost all of us are stuck in the state of amusement by the modern world. This costs the lost of human ethics today.
In the Philippines, there is no time of day; you can watch a descent movie. It is not that there are no good movies showing but the environment of the theater simply sucks. Is it only I that think people are making theaters their offices? When the climax of the film is already happening, the person's, at the back or side, cellular phone will just ring. Ring . Ring in the tone of the Voltes V theme song, DAMN! Then that person's voice will start to say, in a loud whisper, "Hello?". Instead of hearing the climatic line of the actor on the silver screen, one will know the business extravaganza of that unethical person with the phone. There is only one thing positive that can be attributed with this; economy is swirling everywhere in the Philippines due to the latest information technology.
Students are really massacred by the cell phone mania. They probably write more words in their phones than in their notebooks. One more thing those words in their phones are spelled using the worst literary minds known to history. Even if a professor is already in front, their focus is on the virtual world of uncertainty and unknown. What will be their future? Maybe a student with a resume of fingering their phones day-in and day-out in school can be a very successful whore!
I love the advancement we are experiencing in information technology today. I also like the promises it brings to the Filipinos.
The thing with the uprising of information technology in the Philippines is that people forget the ethics of being people. Filipinos are not getting "smart". Some do not even deserve and are not qualified to have cell phones in their hands. Today, it is very seldom to have a normal conversation with a person who has a cell phone. Sometimes it is better to go to the slums and meet new people than be with someone who keeps on fingering his/her toy.
Something is definitely wrong. I hope Filipinos will realize right now that what they have been doing is wrong. I wish they would realize that the modern technology is nothing without them living in reality with right morality.
