Vintage PBA, Awful
Watching PBA in t.v. really sucks! It is not that PBA is bad but the marketing of the league is tremendously awful!
PBA is the best basketball league in the Philippines. There is no question about that. The finest players are there. The best teams are also there. Every Filipino, who once in their lives played the game, has ambition to play in the "bayan ng superstars". Legends are being made in the PBA but it is so unfortunate that the boob tube can not see that.
The Broadcast Company who has been televising the games of the PBA is not doing a good job. Frankly the appropriate word is suck. You can see people broadcasting a game who have no knowledge about the sport. Not everyone but a few has absolutely no right to call a televised basketball game. The directors do not know the meaning of entertainment. The producers do not recognize the potential of the PBA.
A t.v. bidding war was recently concluded. Two of the gigantic networks slugged it out to win the rights of covering the games of the premiere league. This Broadcast Company won it, again. PBA had the chance to be aired by one of the most awesome t.v. network in the country but it chose its "long time partner" once again. I personally believe this partner will not bring PBA to the stature it truly deserves.
It is really unfortunate for the avid PBA fans. We will just have to be contented in what destiny is going to present. No change has been made. Though change offered itself in a very lucrative identity, PBA squashed it and favored the old.
In conclusion, PBA is an outstanding basketball league but it is wrap on a very bad foil. Fans have to be patient just to watch the games in the boob tube. On a personal note, PBA, that is very, very bad.
