Shakti - official website Things can get really scarry ?if you are an NRI man you are in for a rude shock. In most possibilities, you might decide not even to visit India to meet your parents or relatives. Read down to know why we made a statement like this. Iinspired by the Hollywood flick Not Without My Daughter (1990). The story is about Nandini (Karisma Kapoor) and her two uncles (Tiku Talsania, Jaspal Bhatti) who are rich and live in a sea facing bungalow in Canada. The viewer is shown plush furniture and a bowling Alley from Mumbai! Nandini decides to marry Shekhar (Sanjay Kapoor) who runs an entertainment joint in Canada. They decide to get married, have a kid and he even grows up by the time the long lasting song ends. One fine day while the couple are traveling in their car, they see a huge screen of BBC which flashes some breaking news. Suddenly Shekhar is upset and he is packing his bags. The audience has no clue what went wrong so much that he does not even tell his wife! And then it is bon voyage to India. Once they arrive in India, Nandini is shocked to see the rural India. A scene where Shekhar’s uncle touches Nandini in a very cheap manner is scary ?also that uncle looks like a baboon and has acted brilliantly in this movie. Suddenly while they are in the bus, the killing starts and what we see is gangs that look like terrorists all over the place. One thing we don’t understand why Shekhar did not make things clear to his wife that she is bound to expect something wicked like this. Looks like the filmmaker like the audience and the wife to assume a lot of things! The entire setting of the way the two couple meet there folks is very gripping. The entry of Nana (Narsimha) who plays Shekhar’s father grips you. Narsimha is a complete savage on the other hand Shekhar’s mom Deepti Naval is more docile. One day Nandini sees Narsimha teaching her little son, Raja, to throw a gets wild . Shekhar pacifies her and promises her that they will return to Canada soon. Even as she starts dreaming of a peaceful life again.Nandini's whole world is shattered ?Shekhar is killed!
This is where the climax starts and her stuggle to escape from the rude father. Narsimha does not allow Nnadini to take her son, so she has to attempt few escapes ?but she fails.
Ash only comes for a song which is basically in the dreams of SRK! And we wonder what Mr. SRK who has a hangover of Devdas and Dilip Kumar did such a stupid role in this film. He is an absolute waste. Also, let’s face it we are not some good stunt moviemakers, so why indulge in to it. SRK is speaking any language here! Also they show Rajasthan with camels while they talk Bihari! Both Karisma and Nana are terrific. Snjay is effective while Deepti looks far classier as the role demands. Ritu Shivpuri looks hot in those revealing ghaghras. The direction is brilliant and even the narration is done well. But why the movie was dragged so much also plenty violence here so this may affect the movies prospect. The Ishq Kamina songs does not gel well this movie. The 1st half is better then the 2nd hlaf.
On the whole a dark film worth watching once.

Gunaah
Bad script with a traditional style of making films makes this film a sorry affair on the big screen.
The story of GUNAAH revolves around an honest lady police officer, Prabha (Bipasha Basu). A lonely woman, she takes upon herself of cleansing the corrupt system by being a part of it. She even manages to scare the criminals ?she even says that criminals pee in their pants hearing her name!
Her life takes a dramatic turn when she meets Aditya (Dino Morea).
Prabha falls in love with Aditya when, while chasing him, she is about to fall off a rooftop. This scene looks so pathetic, for any trained police officer climbing back would have been possible but looks like the director makes cops look weak.
Without a thought, Aditya saves her life even though he knows that he would be arrested in the process. This incident leaves a lasting impact on her mind and more so when Aditya refuses to explain his actions in the lock-up as well as in the court. By the way Prabha was chasing Aditya in the case of a murder which took place on a nice rainy day in February as announced by the judge. Now when did it started raining in the month of Feb here in India?
When Prabha takes Aditya down memory lane, she discovers that he is a nice person, who was forced to take the path of crime by a wrongdoing of the system. The two feel drawn to each other and fall in love.
Prabha starts making efforts to know the reasons that made Aditya choose the path of crime and reform him in the process. Aditya keeps quite an does not talk as he does not want to reveal his connection with his gang which is against the wrong legal system especially the police force in India. Or was it the director who was reducing Dino’s tension considering the boy has tough time talking in Hindi!
There is also Ashotsh Rana a former cop who now sells papers and lives in a tunnel. He gives tips to Prabha. Asutosh is completely wasted here.
Bipasha’s wardrobe is pathetic and unconvincing. Bipasha’s acting is fine will Dino hardly creates any impact. Irfan Khan who plays the role of a jealous and corrupt cop is the only character who convinces a bit. The background score is bad while music is average. There was plenty scope for the movie to be interesting and utilize the strong chemistry that the two stars Dino-Bipasha have on the big screen. Sadly, the movie turns out to be a disaster and will be known as one of the worst films made this year. |
Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam
Six years of filmmaking. Yet, few of us still have some type of aspiration for this film. You simply cannot ignore the actors in the film: Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit with Aishwarya Rai in a small meaningful role. Where old films have failed, One Two Ka Four, Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke, the actors have all given their all. So there is something to aspire to on March 29th when the film hits cinemas, something. K.C. Bokadia went through great tribulations to get this film released, musical composers came and went (Anu Malik, Nadeem Shravan were intended for the entire soundtrack but legalities came in the way), and what started out as a non-star film ended up being a film with some of the most accredited names in the industry. One still cant ignore the fact that the eighties style of music blends well with the eighties styled trailers. But wait, this is the year 2002. Gopal (Shah Rukh) and Radha (Madhuri) are our blissfully happily married couple. Prior to their consummation of their relationship Gopal had strictly enforced some of the strongest of rules belying their relationship. A naïve Radha is simply infatuated with her love for him that she forgives his shortcomings. Enter Suraj (Salman), a singer who shares a simple and special relationship with Radha. Amongst Gopals strict rules is a great deal of envy and ignorance, which causes a strong mishap between Radha and Gopal. So begins the tangled web of deception of misunderstanding. The music is not bad, but lets face it, it is just way too old
fashioned to compare it to modern day tunes like Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya or
Asoka. Shah Rukh Khan is supposed to play an angry man to perfection with
Madhuri and Salman re-creating their Hum Apke Hain Koun- Saajan magic.
Whatever were promised, with the age of this product the slightest
shortcoming will be noticed. Lets give it a chance, for we all know
we wont be the first to point out something thats lacking
in Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. |
SOCH Producer: ZeeKay Films Ltd. Director: Sushen Bhatnagar Starring: Raveena Tandon, Sanjay Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Aditi Govariker, Danny Dezgonzapa Music: Jatin-Lalit The underdogs reign and are making their marks! There was once a time where Raveena Tandon was considered a non-actress- one to only star in films with the likes of Govinda and Sunil Shetty. Now the actress has a number of awards under her belt including the most prestigious of them all- the National Award.
Its A Thought Which Kills Soch is a psycho thriller, which has Sanjay Kapoor playing a film director and Raveena portraying the choreographer. After incessant attempts at appeasing Sanjay, Raveena becomes quite obsessive. Raveena indeed loves Sanjay, but Sanjay is married to Aditi Govariker. Raveena is quite aware of the fact but still pursues her infatuation endlessly. Another Fatal Attraction? (Is it Raveena´s turn to do an Urmila?) Not exactly. Things take a twist and a mystery begins. Then enters Arbaaz Khan who has no relation to the main protagonists but enters their lives with a big impact. Arbaaz Khan plays a mad man who joins in the tale of thoughts gone wrong- so wrong that one day someone loses their life. Unfold The Mystery Aditi is found dead one day. Who killed her? Who thinks they killed her?
Why Was She Killed? The film takes several dramatic twists, even one where
the media plays upon Sanjay Kapoor´s relationship with Raveena.
But, each protagonist contributes differently in the aspect of thought,
or so we are lead to believe. It is after all a thought which kills. Look
for Soch to release in April. |
Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya
Dharmesh Darshan returns
after his successful and highly recognized Dhadkan with an interesting
and anticipated romantic drama. This time the film features for the first
time on screen the rumoured off-screen couple, Karishma Kapoor and Abhishek
Bachchan, with Akshay Kumar in support. That itself is a quite interesting
star cast!
Fans are waiting in bated breath for what is said to be an author backed role for Lolo, all set to hit the big screen on the day for lovers, Valentines Day. Made For Each Other Shiv Kapoor (Abhishek Bachchan) and Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) are all friends with Pooja, but at the hands of destiny their relationship becomes much more. Much more entangled, much more dangerous, much more convoluted. So begins the saga of emotions with fear and feelings that are all justified by each of the characters definition of love. How will their interpretation affect their lives? Its not all about
who gets Pooja in the end. Naturally, a lot is expected from Nadeem-Shravan.
Not only because they save their best for Darshan-saab, but because they
have already began to boost about the soulful and melodious music that
the film has. All in all, Haan
Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya is one of the
highly anticipated films of 2002, for even Darmesh Dharshan cant
stop talking about the chemistry between Abhishek and Lolo. |
