I was 10 years old, and really excited about getting my pokémon license. I was so excited, in fact, that I couldn't sleep. I decided to go wait for Professor Oak at the lab, so off I went. I got there at about 3:43 a.m. and I was still hyper. It seemed like an eternity before anyone else came. At 5:24 there came a boy my age. We started talking, and I found out that his name was Michael. We talked until 7:00, when the lab opened.
We rushed inside, past Professor Oak and grabbed two pokéballs. "Well, good morning to you too," the Professor laughed at our eagerness. "Which ones did you pick, you two? I couldn't see in all the dust you raised."
Michael sent out his new pokémon. "Bulbasaur bulba!" "Hi Bulbasaur! I'm going to be your trainer!" Bulbasaur nuzzled Michael with his broad forehead, and Michael laughed.
I sent out the new addition to my family. "Charmander char!" "Hey Chamander, you get to be my first pokémon." Charmander looked into my eyes and smiled. "Char! Mander!" "I think I'll call you Scorcher."
"Well, off you go, you two," said the Professor. "You should start your journey now."
"Bye!" we shouted to Professor Oak. "See you later!"
As Michael and I made our way through Viridian Forest, there were tons of pokémon. Michael caught a Caterpie, a Weedle and a Pikachu. I was content with just Scorcher, who was having the time of her life frying all the bugs she could see. We were happy when Michael beat Brock, and happier when he managed to get a Clefairy in Mount Moon.
I'm not sure what the title is yet. Any ideas? Send them to me!
Hi. My name is... sorry, it's been a long time. Yes! That's it! My name is Alicia. Don't look so surprised, I haven't changed that much. I was once a normal pokémon trainer, believe it or not. I had a Charmander. That was long ago... I'll tell you my story.
We went on together until Cerulean City, where we parted ways. He said that he hoped we met again, someday. By then, Scorcher had evolved her way into a Charmeleon, then a Charizard. We stood and waved good-bye until Michael and Venusaur were out of sight.
Eventually, I found my way to Bill's sea cottage. He was very nice to me, since I turned him back into a human (an experiment had gone awry) and he let me live with him because I had no place to stay. I usually helped clean up the lab and did other small chores. Scorcher always helped, being the kind-hearted pokémon she was.
One morning, while Bill was still asleep, Scorcher and I were cleaning out the Transmutation Cells (you should see it in there! Boy, did they need the cleaning!) when a Rattata bounced in. I say bounced because they're always so full of energy. You may be wondering how the Rattata got in. Bill always leaves his door open in the summertime for a nice breeze. Anyway, Scorcher and I paid it no heed. We didn't pay attention, that is, until it jumped up on the keyboard of Bill's computer. I guess the keys tickled its paws, because it did this sort of dance on the keys. Suddenly, the glass doors of the Transmutation Cells slid shut. Scorcher and I were trapped! Before I could react, I was blinded by a brilliant white light. There was an odd sensation, like prickling, all over my skin, and I fell unconscious.
When I woke up, I found a small crowd staring at me. I was startled and jumped back. "She's alive!" "Give her room!" Bill made his way through the people and smiled at me, looking relieved. "I thought you might not make it," he said. "You were out for quite a while. Glad you're back with the rest of us." He held out a hand, indicating I should get up. I reached for it, and recoiled. My hand was orange! I swallowed the building knot of confusement and fear in my stomach, reached out again, and pulled myself up. What was this? I was at least a foot taller than everyone in the entire room! They all had to crane their necks to look at me!
A sudden thought occurred to me. "Where's Scorcher? Is she OK?" "Char. Zard." I snapped around to see Scorcher, looking as healthy as ever. "Scorcher! You're okay!" I ran over and hugged her. After a few seconds, Scorcher pulled away from my embrace and said, "Char char zard." "What did she say?" the people asked me. "She said, 'Char char zard.' Duh. She meant 'Go look at yourself in a mirror.'"
I managed to find my way to the bathroom and looked in the full-length mirror. I gasped. First of all, I was orange! I don't mean the slight orange tint you might get from eating way too many carrots, I mean ORANGE! Second of all I looked a lot like Scorcher. I had her horns, her wings and her tail, complete with flame on the end! I quickly moved it away from the wall where it had blistered the paint. In a flash, it came to me. When the Rattata had danced on the keyboard, it initiated the Transmutation program! I had some of Scorcher's cells merged with mine! I guess it was because I was in the receiving cell and Scorcher was in the other one. The prickling sensation was my scales forming. I walked back into the main room and found that the crowd had left. Bill was looking at me anxiously. He glanced at the Transmutation Cells, then back at me with worry on his face. I also glanced at the Transmutation Cells. They were blackened and smoking. Even I could tell that they would never work again. The reality hit me suddenly with the force of a Fire Blast. I would never be normal again. I felt slightly nauseous, and collapsed on the floor, unconscious for the second time that day.
When I woke up again, I was in my bed, with a separate stool for my tail. Bill was on the phone, but I couldn't see who was on the other end very clearly. He glanced over at me and said to the phone, "She just woke up. Would you like to talk to her?" "OK," said a familiar voice on the other end. It was my mom! I sent a questioning look to Bill. "Yes, I already told her about the accident," he assured me. I got out of the bed and walked over to where my mom could see me. She gasped and put a hand to her mouth. "Oh, Alicia! Are you all right?" "Yes mom, I'm fine." "I miss you, you know." "I miss you too, mom." "Oops - I have to go. Cookies are in the oven!" She turned off her phone as she rushed away. She was trying to make it seem like things were normal, but her pity was almost too much for me to bear.
I continued living wih Bill for quite a few years after my transmutation. Then, the inevitable happened. Bill died. It felt like I had been torn apart. I cried for a few days (after all, he had been like a father to me) and then I set my resolve. Scorcher and I decided to live in the Unknown Dungeon. We flew for about 1/2 an hour before we got there. There was a man standing in front of the entrance of the Dungeon, trying to keep us from entering. This had just been too hard a time for me, and I had zero patience. I flared my wings and snarled at him. Understandably, he turned white and ran away. Scorcher flew after me into the cave. We saw Kadabra, Dodrio, Chansey and some other pokémon in the Dungeons, but they seemed friendly towards us. We found our way to the bottom of the Dungeons, and I selected a spot that was fairly clear of other pokémon. Mewtwo was surprisingly friendly to us, but I guess that's because we aren't exactly pokémon trainers. We've been here ever since.
Now you know who I am, what I am and how I got here. I'm very sorry I have to do this, but I need a favour from you, Michael. Could you please release Mewtwo? I know you worked very hard to get here and catch him, and I know what he means to you, but he's my best non-human friend. He has comforted and consoled me for all this time. Your pokédex has already recorded the fact that you caught him, and the data can't be changed. You're a pokémon Master now, that can't change. Please let him go, Michael. Thank you. You have no idea what this means to me.
I'll never forget this... I'll never forget you. Goodbye.
