They say that in the Black Hills of Maryland, no one can hear you scream. No one heard the screams of three Montgomery College Students who disappeared in the forest near Burkittsville in October of 1994, they entered those haunted woods to make a documentary about the Blair Witch.
Now one of the filmmakers mothers is mad about the incompetence and apathy, and she's determined to take matters into her own hands.
She doesen't know what she is in for.
Or does the Blair Witch
Three Montgomery College student filmmakers who are attempting to make a documentary about the Blair Witch, a supposed occult figure who haunts the woods outside Burkittsville. The Blair Witch who occasionally killing children or hunters who don't steer clear. The three college students are, "Heather Donahue", "Michael Williams" and "Joshua Leonard" set to get it all on tape. Heather is the director, running around with a video camera, trying to catch the "behind the scenes" scenes; Joshua is the cameraman, who totes the 16mm camera(and much more atmospheric) black and white film; Michael is the sound guy, in charge of the DAT recorder. The opening scenes of the film lay out the story-Heather, Michael and Josh don't return from their foray into the woods and their footage is "found" a year later.
This is the backdrop for "The Blair Witch Project, and what follows is a terrifying story about psychological fear and things that go bump in the night. Only in the case of the Blair Witch, she supposedly cackles and mumbles gibberish. The three set up the tent in terror, scramble to find their shoesm and run out into the night catch whatever it is on film. AS they become increasingly stressed, hungry and scared, it's hard to maintain emotional distance from their distress.
