SPW 9/14/93: "I love playing bad guys. I have fun doing it. It would be difficult for me to play a nice guy." --Roger Howarth
SOM 5/24/94: Your Special Guide To The 1994 Daytime Emmys
"I was thrilled. I'm thrilled for the whole show. I think it's great that Michael (Malone, head writer) and the staff were recognized. I had trouble picking a tape. Todd's done a lot this year and I don't watch the show so I had to sit down and watch all the tapes at one time. I don't know that I necessarily submitted the best parts of the storyline for the competition. Instead I picked tapes that were encapsulated, that had stories from beginning, middle to end. Unfortunately, the stuff I'm most proud of doesn't fall within the year deadline." --Roger Howarth
SOM 7/5/94: SO LONG--IT'S BEEN FUN!
Dressing roommates Kassie Wesley (BLAIR) and Susan Haskell (MARTY) came to a parting of the ways, but it wasn't of their choosing. "They need an extra room because there are new guys coming in and there's no place to put them," explains Kassie. "We have two rooms where there's only one woman in each, so we were asked to split up. Susan is moving in with Hillary (B. Smith, NORA) and I'm moving in with Laura Bonarrigo (CASSIE)." While both ladies have no complaints about their new arrangements, both agree that they'll miss each other's company. While toting some of her belongings down the studio hallway, Kassie mocked tears and sniffed, "I've been taking one piece out at a time."
SOD 9/29/98: "I think the Todd/Blair relationship is my favorite storyline because it's so multifaceted."
--Kassie DePaiva
SOD 9/29/98: Before she entered the world of daytime, Kassie DePaiva was a professional singer. "That's what I did for a living," DePaiva notes. "My character on GUIDING LIGHT [Chelsea] was the chanteuse, so I sang two shows a week for four-and-a-half years." Since joining OLTL in 1993, the actress has sung twice. "One time it was because Todd bet Blair that she wouldn't get up and sing at Rodi's, but she did," she declares. "The other one was when Todd and Blair had finally gotten back together, and they threw a ball on a ship. Blair sang a song to tell everybody how much she loved Todd." Althought DePaiva enjoys singing, she prefers to do so only when it makes sense for Blair. "I don't want to do it just because Kassie DePaiva can sing," she confides.
SOD 11/7/00: Recently, Todd noted that Blair was the only woman who hadn't tried to change him, and that, says DePaiva, is "the essence of Todd and Blair, right there. [Roger Howarth, Todd, and I] had no idea of the power of those statements until we were playing them. I've never understood why Todd and Blair work, but [they] do. And I enjoy it. So we just do it."
Gossip from the Emmys -- www.soapdigest.com June, 2001
Kristen Alderson (Starr, One Life to Live) was keeping her eyes peeled for stars from her mom’s favorite soap, The Young & the Restless. "She’ll freak out if we see Victor (Eric Braeden)," Alderson predicted.
One Life to Live Stars Recall Their Angst-Ridden Auditions -- www.soapcity.com July, 2001
"I first came in for the audition, and all of a sudden, Tori [the
casting executive] looked at me and started screaming and
running around, 'Oh, my gosh, you played Molly in Annie!' She
brought me in [to a room where other people were seated] and
they were, like, 'Oh, my gosh, you were so fabulous in the
Broadway show.' It was between me and this other girl, and after
we left the building, Tori told my mom to come in [to another
room] for a second. And as we were walking out, my mom said,
'Kristen - you got it.' And I was just like: 'Oh, my god!'"

SOD 1-22-02: Baby Blues: "It's so upsetting for me to play," admits Kassie DePaiva (Blair) of her character being told by Todd that her baby died. "When we cut [taping], I told [Roger Howarth, Todd], 'You're so bad; everybody's going to hate you.' He went, 'Oh, thanks a lot.'" But DePaiva insists that the anti-Todd sentiment among Web fans doesn't bother Howarth. "He's a great actor, and he's grounded in what he does. But honey, [the baby story] goes on a long time, so get used to it. Blair'll be 82 before she realizes the kid is home!"
SOD 6-25-02: Who on your show do you think should have been nominated?
Phil Carey (Asa): I think Todd [Roger Howarth] had a good shot at it. And Kassie [DePaiva, Blair]. And the little girl who plays Starr [Kristen Alderson]; if she's not an improvement over those kids, I don't know who is. I had a couple of scenes with her and we got so much fan mail. It was setting up Max and she was just giggling. She follows direction beautifully. She's a lovely little girl.
SOD 6-25-02: A Living Doll: The neatest thing in the world to Kristen Alderson (Starr)? Having her character made into a doll. "Oh, my gosh," she gushes. "It's so cool. I always saw these people in movies, and they had their own dolls, and I'm like, 'If I only had my own doll.'" So, talk about a surprise when she was called into Executive Producer Gary Tomlin's office recently. "I walked into the room and I saw this doll, and I was like, 'You have got to be kidding me!' It was the most exciting thing." The important question remains: Could the Starr doll beat up Barbie? "Wow," ponders the actress. "I do not know. That would be weird, though!"
