McHale's Navy

[Tim Curry]

Synopsis

McHales' Navy is a fast-paced ensemble action-comedy
packed with feel-good humor, high-tech pyrotechnics
and a heart as big as the Atlantic Ocean. The laid-
back Carribean lifestyle of the wise-cracking former
Naval officer McHale (Tom Arnold) is interrupted when
he is lured back into service to thwart his nemesis,
manical terrorist Vladikov (Tim Curry). With the able
assistance of a motley crew of misfits, McHale mobilizes
to save the inhabitants of his tiny island and make the
the world safe for democracy.

My Review:

Someone on this film crew adores Tim Curry! He gets 3 times as
many close-ups as Arnold--the supposed star, and what close-ups
they are! Numerous ones of his gorgeous curly locks, every eye
roll, and there are MANY of those, and then even more close-ups
while he is encouraged to mug and strut as only he can. Curls,
crop and jack boots, OH MY! Let's not forget the black silk
robe, and it's removal. Then there is THE BOAT! Tim's sleek,
fast, dangerous 'cigarette' boat is the most phallic boat I've
ever seen in my life! James Bond eat your heart out!

I wonder if Mr. Curry liked the boat? Montage

The screenplay has every plot device known to man (or woman).
Stockwell and Grier sucked, big time, in my not so humble opinion.
Campbell and Stewart were cute and deserved more lines.
Tommy Chong's twin cousins were a treat (still smokin' babe!).
Shakespeare this ain't, but for a laugh and a good LONG look at
our hero, it's well worth your time.

Montage: THAT face!

Oh, don't miss one of Tim's songs in the beginning of the movie.
For those who haven't heard it, it's 'Workin' on My Tan."

How many actors get to shoot their directors?
Brian Spicer is listed in the credits as the 'unlucky
