Oscar

[Tim Curry]

Review:

This farce features a perfectly capable comic performance from
Sylvester Stallone as a gangster who promises his dying father (Kirk
Douglas in a hilarious cameo) that he'll go straight. But complications
make keeping his vow difficult. An all star supporting cast help bouy
the story, which often drags under John Landis' laid-back direction.

My Review:

Normally I can't stand Mr. Stallone, but he is FUNNY in this movie.
This is a classic farce, it has everything: star crossed lovers-several
sets in fact, mistaken identities, a switched suitcase full of money-or
lingerie, GREAT music, the Finouchi Brothers, and Tim as Dr. Poole.
Dr. Poole is about as far from Dr. Frank-N-Furter as you can get, and
an actor who can do them BOTH convincingly should have some Oscars
of his own! This is one of the very few romantic roles Mr. Curry has
done, so don't miss it. It shows fairly often on cable.

Rating: PG brief profanity (I don't remember any!)

Run Time: 110min
