Titanic Chronicles
Synopsis:
This is a reenctment of the 1912 US Senate hearings of the investigation
into the Titanic disaster, just days after it happened. There is testimony
by suvivors, including passengers and crew, and by the crews of the ships that
answered the Titanic's distress signals.
Tim Curry has the role of Charles Lightoller, the second officer of the Titanic.
His narration recounts the timing and circumstances of the evacuation, the captain's
behavior, his narrow escape, and his heroic rescue of others.
I probably wouldn't have bought this, but Mr. Scura kindly sent me a CD to review.
It's great fun. It's like a mystery, listening to these people tell their versions of
the story, with all of the contradictions and outright lies that any criminal investigation
has, except this is the real testimony given by real Titanic survivors from that time!
I loved listening to the slimey owner, J. Bruce Ismay, the women passengers who have
interesting comments to make on the crew's training, and the Captains of the several
ships who seem to be lying through their teeth.
Tim's character, Lightoller, sounds a bit like he's covering up, and yet he also
sounds like he was not trained properly. SNAFUs happen---this one was a BIG one!
Well worth the effort to get this CD audio book. The video is to have some
interesting period pictures. (TC is not shown on the vid, just his voice)
