Titanic

[Tim Curry]

Produced by: Frank Konigsberg

Written by: Ross LaManna and Joyce Eliason

Directed by: Robert Lieberman

Synopsis/Reviews:

Until the big dunk, rendered with some cheesy special effects,
Titanic shapes up as a mildly entertaining soap about class
conflict. The upper battleline is drawn by a Pekingese-toting
plutocrat (Eva Marie Saint) hunting for a suitor for her
granddaughter. "The trip to Europe was disastrous," she sniffs,
"All the men are foreigners."

Steerage stars a pickpocketing heartthrob (Mike Doyle) torn
between his love for a devout virgin (Sonsee Ahray) and alliance
with a Satanic shipmate, steward Simon Doonan(Tim Curry).
Tim Curry plays a ridiculous concocted character, a purser who
plans on robbing some of the rich people on board with the help
of Mike Doyle as a handsome young thief. Although Curry's
character appears to be sexually attracted to the young man, he
rapes the lad's girlfriend in the shower -- an unnecessarily ugly
scene inserted for the sake of sensationalism.

My Review:

This is a four hour snooze, EXCEPT for the rape scene! I wonder
who directed that scene? It sure wasn't the same person who was
responsible for the rest of this dog. Everyone else seemed miscast
(Marlilu Henner as Molly Brown-PULEEESE!) and not very interesting,
until Tim made rape an artform. Damn! Isn't he EVER going to get a
role worthy of his talent?
