Oliver Twist

[Tim Curry]

My Review:

This is a very gritty version of Dicken's story. I don't
particularly like Scott's Fagin. Mr. Curry is stunning as
Bill Sykes. When he kills Nancy, (Ms. Lunghi) it is so
horrific and prolonged that I had to stop the tape and go
walk around outside for a while. The look on his face---brrrrr!
Then, when he was hunting for the dog, my stomach did
some serious rolling!
I wouldn't let a kid watch this, it scared the hell out of me!
The sight of Tim/Bill with his hands around Oliver's throat
and then casually tossing him against a wall is pretty grim.
I usually cheer for Tim to avoid his character's seemingly
inevitable death, but this time I didn't.
