Much Music Interivew #2

'N Sync Interview, July 15, 1998

(Cheering)

Juliette: WE HAVE AN 'N SYNC INTERVIEW. THE BOYS SHOWED UP. WE HAVE THEIR FANS
HERE -- (Loud cheering) -- AND, OF COURSE, THEY'RE PERFORMING AT THE MOLSON
AMPHITHEATRE TONIGHT. THERE ARE STILL TICKETS AVAILABLE IF YOU'RE INTERESTED
IN GOING, AND I HAVE A FEELING AFTER THIS, EVERYBODY'S GONNA BE GOING. GUYS,
WELCOME BACK TO THE Much ENVIRONMENT. (Continued cheering) WELCOME BACK. THE
LAST TIME I SAW YOU, YOU WERE DOING "E.C." ACROSS THE WAY OVER HERE AND WE
TOOK THIS PICTURE FOR A VERY SPECIAL EVENT -- REMEMBER THIS? -- THE PLATINUM
ALBUM, FIRST TIME HERE IN CANADA. (Cheering) I WAS JUST TALKING TO YOUR RECORD
COMPANY AND YOU'RE NOW ALMOST TWO-TIMES PLATINUM IN CANADA.
CONGRATULATIONS. (Loud cheering) ALMOST 200,000 COPIES OF THE ALBUM SOLD. THIS IS
THE ALBUM, IN CASE YOU HAVE BEEN LIVING -- I DON'T KNOW -- IN A SANDTRAP
SOMEWHERE. THIS IS 'N SYNC. WHY DO YOU THINK GIRLS, THOUSANDS OF THEM -- (Loud
screaming and cheering) -- LOVE YOU? WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT 'N SYNC?

Lance: I HAVE NO IDEA.

JC: I THINK IT'S JUST THAT WE'RE OURSELVES AND PEOPLE APPRECIATE THAT WE'RE
OURSELVES, WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME, AND EVERYBODY JUST WANTS TO HAVE A
GOOD TIME WITH US.

Juliette: BUT LOTS OF BANDS OUT THERE WANT TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. IT CAN'T JUST BE
THAT.

Joey: AND MAKING MUSIC AS WELL. I MEAN, IT'S THE LOVE FOR MUSIC, THE LOVE FOR
PERFORMING BEFORE ALL THE FANS AND EVERYTHING AND JUST HAVING A GOOD TIME.

Juliette: IT'S --

Justin: WE USE LOVE POTION NUMBER NINE.

Juliette: IT'S INTERESTING BECAUSE YOU SEEM TO HAVE YOUR 'N SYNC FANS, AND THEY'RE
HARD-CORE 'N SYNC FANS, AND THEN YOU HAVE YOUR BACKSTREET BOYS' FANS AND
THEY'RE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. WHAT DO YOU THINK DIFFERENTIATES YOU FROM
OTHER BOY BANDS, PERHAPS?

Lance: I DON'T KNOW. I THINK WE'RE JUST FIVE TOTALLY DIFFERENT GUYS, AND I THINK
WE SING TOTALLY DIFFERENT MUSIC. OUR LIVE SHOWS ARE DIFFERENT AND JUST
DIFFERENT -- (Continued loud screaming and cheering)

Juliette: WHAT ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHY? I KNOW YOU GUYS STUDY WITH SOME PRETTY
HEAVY PEOPLE, PEOPLE WHO HELPED CHOREOGRAPH MICHAEL JACKSON AND PRINCE.
HOW IMPORTANT IS THAT CHOREOGRAPHY TO THE CORE OF THE BAND?

Chris: I THINK THE CHOREOGRAPHY IS REALLY KEY. WHEN YOU SEE OUR SHOW, YOU'LL
KNOW THAT, YOU KNOW, EVERY SONG WE DO -- I THINK THERE'S ONE SONG, ASIDE FROM
AN A CAPPELLA SONG, THAT WE DON'T MOVE AROUND. BECAUSE TO US, WHEN WE SING,
WE LIKE TO DANCE; WE LIKE TO MOVE AROUND. AND WE SHOW THAT IN OUR SHOWS. IN
FACT, THERE'S AN INTRO -- AND WE CAN'T TELL YOU ABOUT THAT; WE HAVE TO SHOW
YOU -- AND THEN THERE'S A DANCE BREAK THAT ALL WE DO IS DANCE; WE DON'T EVEN
SING. IT'S JUST LIKE ONLY DANCE. IT'S A LOT OF FUN.

Juliette: BUT HOW DO YOU CATCH YOUR BREATH AFTER DOING ALL THAT?

JC: PRACTICE!

Lance: BEFORE WE EVEN SIGNED WITH A RECORD COMPANY, FOR A YEAR, EVERY DAY FOR
FOUR OR FIVE HOURS, WE DANCED IN LIKE A HOT WAREHOUSE TO GET TRAINED FOR THAT.

Juliette: SO HOW MUCH TRAINING DO YOU DO NOW THAT YOU'RE ON THE ROAD, NOW THAT
YOU HAVE TO DO SHOWS ALL OVER THE PLACE? YOU MUST BE EXHAUSTED.

Justin: WHEN WE'RE ON THE ROAD, THE MOST WE REALLY HAVE TIME TO DO EACH DAY IS
AT OUR SOUND CHECK AT EACH VENUE. WE USUALLY ARE DOING STOPS AT MuchMusic AND
STUFF LIKE THAT. BUT YEAH, WHEN WE'RE PREPARING FOR A TOUR, USUALLY IT'S -- WE
GET ABOUT TWO WEEKS, AND WE PRACTICE ABOUT TWELVE HOURS A DAY.

Juliette: SO DO YOU PRACTICE MORE OF THE VOCALS OR THE DANCE MOVES?

Chris: YES.

Chris: BOTH OF THEM.

Juliette: BOTH OF THEM. SO SHOW US SOME OF YOUR VOCAL EXERCISES. (Cheering)

Chris: YOU MEAN YOU WANT US TO SING A CAPPELLA OR -- YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THE
VOCAL EXERCISES...

Juliette: I DO.

Chris: NO, SERIOUSLY. WE JUST GO Brrrrrrzzzz... BUT WE CAN DO THIS A CAPPELLA...

Juliette: OKAY. GO FOR IT. OKAY, LISTEN UP...

*N SYNC: ~ I lie awake ~ ~ I drive myself crazy ~ ~ Drive myself crazy ~ ~ Thinking of you...~ ~ Made a
mistake ~ ~ When I let you go, baby ~ ~ I drive myself crazy ~ ~ Wanting you the way that I do ~ ~ Wanting
you the way that I do... ~ (Loud cheering)

Juliette: ALL RIGHT! THE HEAT IS ON IN THE Much ENVIRONMENT WITH 'N SYNC. ARE YOU
GUYS FEELING IT? (Cheering) ALL RIGHT, GUYS. NOW, FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, YOU'RE
NOT JUST HERE IN TORONTO FOR THE SHOW TONIGHT AND NOT JUST HERE FOR, YOU
KNOW, HANGING OUT WITH THE FANS HERE, BUT ALSO YOU'RE RECORDING HERE IN
TORONTO. THIS IS A LITTLE-KNOWN FACT, FOLKS. WHAT'S THAT ABOUT?

JC: WE ACTUALLY -- WE LIKE TO STAY AHEAD OF OURSELVES A LITTLE BIT, YOU KNOW,
BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO DO RECORDING, SO WE RECORD IT WHENEVER WE CAN.
THEY HAVE A NICE STUDIO HERE, AND WE JUST HAD A SONG SUBMITTED AND SO WE
BROUGHT OUR PRODUCER UP HERE AND THIS MORNING WE WERE RECORDING A NEW SONG
THAT'S PROBABLY GOING TO BE ON THE NEXT ALBUM.

Juliette: SO WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG?

JC: I CAN'T TELL YOU THAT!

Juliette: BUT THAT WAY WHEN WE HEAR IT, WE'LL KNOW THAT WAS RECORDED RIGHT HERE
IN TORONTO. THAT'S A COOL THING.

JC: OKAY. IT'S CALLED "YOU DRIVE ME CRAZY."

Juliette: "YOU DRIVE ME CRAZY." ALL RIGHT. AND HOW DOES IT GO WHEN YOU DO RECORD
A SONG? I MEAN, DOES SOMEBODY SEND YOU A DEMO TAPE SAYING "HEY, WE WOULD
LOVE 'N SYNC TO SING THIS," OR ARE THERE ALREADY VOCALS OR DO YOU CREATE YOUR
OWN?

Justin: IF THAT'S THE CASE, IF WE HAVE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO WRITE A SONG FOR US,
THEN THEY'LL SEND US A DEMO AND THEY'LL ASK US WHAT WE THINK ABOUT IT, AND
THEN WE'LL SEND OUR THOUGHTS BACK TO THEM. YOU KNOW, IF WE FEEL THAT IT CAN
WORK WITH OUR REPERTOIRE, THEN WE'LL SEND THEM NOTES BACK, STUFF THAT WE
MIGHT WANT CHANGED OR STUFF THAT WE WANT DIFFERENTLY IN THE SONG.

Juliette: SO ANYONE CAN SEND YOU A TAPE WITH A DEMO?

Joey: SURE, ANYBODY.

Juliette: THAT'S GREAT! THAT'S FANTASTIC, GUYS, THAT YOU'RE SO OPEN TO YOUR FANS
AND STUFF. WELL, WE WANT TO GIVE THE FANS AN OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH
'N SYNC. SO IF YOU WANT TO REACH THEM, YOU CAN FAX OR YOU CAN PHONE, AND WE'LL
ALSO BE TAKING QUESTIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE HERE IN THE Much ENVIRONMENT. THE
PEOPLE OUT THERE ARE ALSO GOING TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ASK QUESTIONS. IF
YOU WANT TO FAX US, IT'S VERY SIMPLE: 416-284-MUCH. THAT'S 416-284-MUCH. TRY TO BE
ORIGINAL AND CREATIVE WITH YOUR QUESTIONS. YOU GUYS ARE OPEN FOR IT?

Chris: YEAH.

Juliette: WE'RE LOVING THAT! WE'LL TAKE A SHORT BREAK, SEE A VIDEO BY 'N SYNC,
AND WE'LL BE BACK. (Cheering) (Video played) (Cheering)

Juliette: 'N SYNC, RIGHT HERE LIVE IN THE Much ENVIRONMENT. AND, OF COURSE, THE FANS
CAME OUT, MOSTLY FEMALES, IF YOU NOTICE, IF YOU LOOK AT THE CROWD HERE. HOW DO
YOU GUYS FEEL ABOUT BEING SEX SYMBOLS?

Chris: GIRL POWER! (Cheering)

Juliette: WHAT EXACTLY IS GIRL POWER TO YOU, MY FRIEND? (Laughter)

Lance: WE HAVE NO IDEA! (Laughing)

Chris: I DON'T KNOW, BUT I THINK THE SPICE GIRLS COULD KICK OUR BUTTS. (Laughter)

Justin: NO, THERE'S ONLY FOUR OF THEM NOW.

Chris: OH, WE'RE TAKING THEM ON! THAT'S IT! I FORGOT THEY LOST A MEMBER.

Juliette: MAYBE WE'LL PUT YOU HEAD-TO-HEAD. BUT IN THE MEANTIME, IT'S ALL ABOUT
THE FANS TODAY. WE WANT TO GET SOME OF THEIR QUESTIONS IN THERE. WE'RE GOING TO
START IT OFF WITH AN AUDIENCE QUESTION. YOU HAVE THE MIKE; GO AHEAD.

Audience Quesion: HI, GUYS. I WAS WONDERING, ON YOUR NEXT ALBUM, ARE YOU PLANNING
ON WRITING YOUR OWN SONGS OR ARE YOU COLLABORATING WITH DENNIS POPP AND
MAX MARTIN?

JC: WELL, RIGHT NOW, WHO KNOWS? I MEAN, WE'RE JUST AT THE BEGINNING. WE HAVE
RECORDED A LOT OF SONGS, BUT THERE'S GOING TO BE WAY MORE BEFORE WE EVEN
START DECIDING ON WHAT SONGS GO ON THE ALBUM. AND YEAH, I MEAN, WE'VE KIND
OF STARTED WRITING STUFF LIKE THAT. I MEAN, EVEN ON THIS LAST ALBUM, WE'VE GOT
ONE SONG THAT WE WROTE. SO HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE MORE OF THOSE ON THE NEW
ONE.

Juliette: HMMM. WHAT ABOUT THE SONG YOU'RE RECORDING HERE IN TORONTO?

JC: THAT WAS DONE BY TONY CATURA, THE GUY WHO DID "HERE WE GO" ON OUR LAST
ALBUM.

Juliette: EXCELLENT.

Juliette: OKAY. WE HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION, THIS TIME THE FAX THAT I HOLD IN MY
HAND. IT'S SENT FROM TANYA AND LAURA AND HEIDI IN VICTORIA, B.C. THEY WANTED
TO KNOW, GENTLEMEN, EACH ONE OF YOU, WHICH ARE YOUR WILDEST FANTASIES?
(Cheering and applause)

Joey: I DON'T KNOW. A BIG POOL OF JELL-O. THAT'S ALL I'M GOING TO SAY!

Justin: WHOA! JOEY! DON'T HOLD BACK.

Joey: THAT'S ABOUT IT. THAT'S AS FAR AS WILD GOES.

Chris: I DON'T REALLY HAVE ANY WILD FANTASIES, I DON'T THINK. I LIKE BEACHES,
SURFING AND GOING TO THE OCEAN AND STUFF LIKE THAT.

Juliette: THAT'S COOL. ALL RIGHT.

Lance: I LIKE BEACHES, TOO, BUT YOU STOLE IT FROM ME.

Chris: YOU'RE NOT GOING TO THE BEACH WITH ME, BUDDY!

Lance: NO THANK YOU! (Laughing) I DON'T KNOW. MAYBE... SKYDIVING.

Chris: SKYDIVING?!

Juliette: HAVE YOU EVER FULFILLED ANY OF THESE WILD FANTASIES ON THE BEACH OR
SKYDIVING PERHAPS?

Chris: I HAVE NEVER BEEN SKYDIVING.

Lance: I HAVE BEEN TO THE BEACH! (Laughter)

Juliette: OKAY.

Justin: I THINK THAT ANSWERS THAT QUESTION.

Juliette: WHAT ABOUT YOU?

JC: I JUST LIKE TO SLEEP A LOT...

Chris [trying to imitate JC]: I LIKE TO PLAY NINTENDO.

JC: I DON'T KNOW. WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR FANTASIES ANYWAY, I GUESS, SO...

Justin: OUR SCHEDULE IS A LITTLE TOO BUSY FOR FANTASIES RIGHT NOW.

JC: I LIKE SLEEPING A LOT. THAT'S ABOUT IT. THANK YOU.

Justin: I THINK I CAN SPEAK FOR ALL OF US WHEN I SAY THAT WE'RE LIVING OUT ONE OF
OUR WILDEST FANTASIES RIGHT NOW. BEING ON STAGE, DOING THIS, BEING 'N SYNC, THIS
HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF OUR WILDEST FANTASIES, AND NOW WE'RE GETTING TO DO IT
SO...

Juliette: THAT'S BEAUTIFUL! (Cheering)

Justin: I LOVE YOU, MAN!

[Chris and Justin Hug here]

Juliette: YOU'RE THE ONE THAT GOT HIM STARTED ON THE OTHER TANGENT...

Joey: I JUST SAID A POOL OF JELL-O, A BUNCH OF PEOPLE TO HANG OUT IN JELL-O...

Juliette: OH, YEAH. LET'S TAKE ANOTHER QUESTION. THIS IS A PHONER. HELLO! ANYBODY
ON THE PHONE FOR 'N SYNC? NO? OH, WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO GET BACK TO YOU A LITTLE
BIT LATER ON, OKAY? WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO HOOK YOU UP IN A FEW MINUTES AND GET
BACK TO YOU ON THE PHONE. IN THINK MEANTIME, PERHAPS WE CAN HAVE ANOTHER
AUDIENCE QUESTION.

[Audience Question]: WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST THING THAT A FAN HAS EVER TRIED TO DO TO
YOU GUYS? AND I LOVE YOU, LANCE.

Lance: ME?

[Audience Question]: EVERYBODY, BUT...

Lance: WELL, THANK YOU. THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS. THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS, BUT
ONE STICKS OUT IN MY MIND. WE WERE IN BERLIN, AND WE GOT TO THE AIRPORT AND
THERE WAS HUNDREDS OF GIRLS TRYING TO GET PAST THE SECURITY CHECK. AND ONE
HOPPED ON THE LUGGAGE BELT AND TRIED TO GET THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE. IT
WAS AMUSING.

Chris: WHY IS THE TORONTO DEPARTMENT OF HAZARDOUS MATERIAL THERE... (Laughter)

Chris: DID WE DO SOMETHING?

Juliette: IT'S THAT JELL-O COMMENT! THAT'S WHAT IT IS. ALL RIGHT. WE HAVE GOT -- WE
WERE ABLE TO HOOK UP WITH THAT PERSON ON THE PHONE. HELLO.

Caller: HELLO.

Juliette: HI. WHAT'S YOUR NAME, GIRL?

Caller: MORGAN.

Juliette: MORGAN, WHERE ARE YOU CALLING FROM?

Caller: MISSISSAUGA.

Juliette: DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION FOR THE BOYS?

Caller: YEAH. DO YOU THINK THAT YOUR PERSONALITY IS GOING TO CHANGE NOW THAT
YOU'RE FAMOUS?

Justin: YES! (Laughter)

Justin: NO... WE STARTED THIS AS 'N SYNC AND WE'LL ALWAYS BE 'N SYNC. I DON'T THINK
OUR PERSONALITIES WILL CHANGE. WE ALWAYS TRY IN EVERY WAY WE CAN TO STAY AS
CLOSE TO OUR FANS AS POSSIBLE. SOMETIMES OUR SCHEDULE GETS REALLY BUSY AND,
YOU KNOW, WE'LL -- I'LL GIVE YOU AN INSTANCE. WE'LL BE AT AN AUTOGRAPH SIGNING
AND WE STAYED AN HOUR LATE AND WE MISSED OUR SOUND-CHECK, BUT WE HAVE TO
MAKE IT TO THE VENUE FOR THE SHOW. THAT DISAPPOINTS US SOMETIMES, EVEN WHEN
WE HAVE TO DO THAT, EVEN WHEN IN REALITY WE HAVE STAYED AND MISSED A SOUND-
CHECK. BUT OUR FANS ARE HERE FOR US AND WE APPRECIATE THEM, YOU KNOW. THAT'S
WHY WE DO THIS.

Juliette: THAT'S GOT TO BE ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS, THOUGH, WHEN YOU'RE
SURROUNDED BY FANS AND KNOW YOU HAVE TO GO AND YOU WANT TO SIGN THOSE
AUTOGRAPHS...

Lance: THAT'S WHAT WE HATE. SOMETIMES THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND. AND IT'S LIKE, "I
WISH WE COULD GET TO YOU, BUT..."

Juliette: DO YOU HAVE LIKE A BLANKET STATEMENT OR A SECURITY GUARD THAT JUMPS
IN?

Chris: NO, WE LEAVE LANCE! (Laughter)

Justin: WE THROW LANCE TO THE WOLVES.

Juliette: BUT THIS ISN'T YOUR FIRST TASTE OF STARDOM. WHO WAS IN THE MICKEY MOUSE
CLUB HERE? (Cheering) I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR OWN RENDITION OF THE MICKEY
MOUSE SONG.

Justin: THIS IS THE ONE WE DO FOR EVERYBODY. THIS IS THE ONE WE DO FOR EVERYBODY.
CHECK THIS OUT...

JC: ~ M-I-c...~

Justin: SEE YOU REAL SOON.

JC: ~ K-e-y...~

Justin: WHY? BECAUSE WE GOT PAID TO!

JC and Justin: ~ M-o-u-s-e ~

Juliette: ALL RIGHT. WE'RE GOING TO GO TO THE MOST VOCAL OF THE FANS, THIS LADY
OVER HERE HOLDING THE MIKE IN GREY.

[Audience Question]: HI, GUYS. I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU
COULD SHOW US AS WELL... IS IT AN INNIE OR AN OUTIE? THE BELLY BUTTON.

Justin: AN INNIE OR OUTIE?

Joey: INNIE.

Chris: INNIE.

Lance: I'VE GOT AN INNIE.

JC: INNIE

New Speaker: EVERYBODY HAS AN INNIE.

(Girl asks here "Can you show us?!?!??!)

Justin: OKAY. OKAY. ARE YOU COMING TO THE SHOW TONIGHT?

[Audience]: YES.

Justin: YOU'LL SEE THAN.

[Audience]: WHOO! (Cheering)

Chris: HEY, CAN SHE PICK UP THAT C.D. SHE HAS ON HER LAP?

Chris: LET ME SEE...

(The girl who just asked the question holds up a MMC CD)

Juliette: OH, MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS.

( JC tries to hold back Chris)

Chris: HOLD ON. CAN YOU LOOK AT THIS RIGHT HERE?

( Chris holds the CD up to the camera)

Joey: IT'S J.C. IN HIS MMC YEARS.

Chris: IT'S THE WONDER YEARS! (Cheering)

JC: YOU'RE GROUNDED.

New Speaker: CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?

Juliette: I BELIEVE THAT.

JC: CHECK THIS OUT. LOOK WHAT I'VE GOT, BUDDY! (Cheering)

( JC is holding a picture of Chris that an audience member handed to him)

Juliette: CAN I SEE?

JC: I WANT EVERYBODY TO SEE.

Juliette: I WANT THIS YOUNG LADY HERE TO -- SHE COMMENTED TO ME A LITTLE BIT
EARLIER BEFORE 'N SYNC GOT HERE... WHAT WERE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

[Audience Question]: FIRST I WANT TO SAY THAT CHRIS IS THE SEXIEST GUY I HAVE EVER
SEEN.

New Speaker: OH! WHO'S PICTURE --

[Audience]: THAT'S MINE.

Juliette: THIS WOULD BE THE PICTURE. AND YOU WANTED TO COMMENT ABOUT THEM
READING?

[Audience Quesion]: WELL, I WANTED TO ASK LANCE IF HE COULD TALK A LITTLE "POO-FOO."
(Laughter and applause)

Chris: BETTER YET, SING THE SONG.

Lance: I AM NOT SINGING THE SONG!

All: WE WANT LANCE! WE WANT LANCE! WE WANT LANCE! (Audience continuing the chant)

Juliette: OKAY.

Chris: I DON'T EVEN KNOW IT.

Lance: ~ Poo-foo, where are you? ~ ~ Please come out and play ~ (Laughter and applause)

Juliette: ALL RIGHT. JUST SO YOU CAN COMPOSE YOURSELF, GENTLEMEN, LET'S GO TAKE
ANOTHER PHONE CALL. WHO DO WE HAVE ON THE PHONE RIGHT NOW? HELLO?

Caller: HI.

Juliette: WHAT'S YOUR NAME?

Caller: STEPHANIE.

Juliette: YOU HAVE A QUESTION FOR 'N SYNC?

Caller: YEAH.

Juliette: WHAT'S YOUR QUESTION?

Caller: DO THEY, LIKE, USE PROFANITY OFFSTAGE?

*N SYNC: WHAT WAS THAT?

Caller: DO THEY, LIKE, CUSS?

*N SYNC: OH!

Joey: WE REALLY DON'T, BUT THERE'S A GAME WE PLAY ACTUALLY IF WE DO. IT'S PRETTY
FUNNY. IT'S LIKE IF YOU HAPPEN TO CURSE, YOU HAVE TO SAY NOOKY, AND IF YOU DON'T
SAY NOOKY, EVERYBODY GETS TO PUNCH YOU UNTIL YOU SAY NOOKY. SO IT KEEPS US IN
LINE.

Chris: YOU CAN SEE JOEY'S EYE... HE LOST!

Joey: I'VE GOT BRUISES ON MY LEGS..

New speaker: NO JOEY’S PRETTY GOOD.

Juliette: WELL, TALK ABOUT CHANGES. YOU'VE GOT A NEW CHANGE HERE. NO MORE
BRACES! (Cheering)

Chris: I WILL SMILE ALL THE TIME NOW.

Juliette: HAVE YOU NOTICED, HAS IT CHANGED THE WAY THAT YOU SING?

Chris: NOT REALLY. THEY REALLY DIDN'T AFFECT ME LIKE I THOUGHT THEY WOULD. WHEN
I FIRST HAD THEM PUT ON, WE HAD THE GROUP TOGETHER FOR ABOUT -- WHAT? -- A YEAR,
YEAR AND A HALF, WHEN I FIRST GOT THEM PUT ON. THAT'S WHEN I WAS MORE AFRAID
BECAUSE I KNEW THEY WERE CUMBERSOME AND I THOUGHT MAYBE WHEN WE WERE IN
THE STUDIO YOU WOULD HEAR A CHANGE IN MY "S's" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. BUT IT'S
ONLY WITH THE RETAINER, WHEN I SLEEP AT NIGHT, THAT YOU START TO HEAR MY "S's"
START TO SOUND LIKE THIS... (Sounding like a th)

Juliette: AND WHAT ABOUT THE TATOOS? FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, YOU GUYS LEFT WITH
ONE OF OUR SECURITY GUARDS AFTER "E.C." IN APRIL AND WENT DIRECTLY TO THE
TATTOO PARLOUR AND GOT BRANDED...

( EC is a dance show in Canada)

New speaker: I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!

New Speaker: HE DIDN'T!

JC: I DIDN'T!

Juliette: SO DID ANYBODY...

Chris: LET'S SEE HIS ARMS BEFORE YOU GO TALKING ABOUT US. WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?!

Juliette: SERIOUSLY, WHAT DID YOU GET DONE WHILE YOU WERE HERE IN TORONTO?

Joey: YOU'LL SEE DURING THE SHOW.

Juliette: COME ON.

Lance: OKAY. WE DECIDED SINCE WE WENT PLATINUM, WE HAD TO DO SOMETHING
SPECIAL FOR CANADA.

( Joey, Chris and Lance lift up their pant leg to show their tattoos)

Juliette: SUPERMAN... WHAT IS THIS?

Joey: EVERYBODY HERE GOT THE FIRE FROM EITHER ONE OF THE SINGLES OR ONE OF
THE ALBUMS, SO IT'S A FLAME WITH OUR OWN LITTLE PERSONAL TAKE.

Lance: I JUST GOT THE FLAME. I DIDN'T GET MUCH TO IT.

Juliette: YOU GOT THE DIAMONDS, TOO. IS THIS REAL? LOOK AT THIS RING! IS THAT WHAT
YOU'RE BUYING WITH ALL THIS MONEY THAT YOU MUST BE MAKING?

Lance: IT'S WHAT I GOT THE OTHER DAY BECAUSE WE WENT GOLD IN AMERICA AND
ALMOST DOUBLE-PLATINUM HERE. (Cheering and applause)

Juliette: THAT'S VERY, VERY COOL. ALL RIGHT. NOW, I ALSO HEARD A RUMOUR THERE WAS
A HIDDEN SUPERMAN TATTOO. YOU WERE NICE ENOUGH TO SHOW US YOUR ANKLE...

Joey: MAN! NO, NO...

Juliette: I DO MY RESEARCH!

Joey: DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT.

Juliette: DO YOU NOT HAVE ANOTHER TATTOO...

Joey: I DO NOT.

Juliette: THERE'S NO SUPERMAN TATOO...

Joey: NOWHERE ON -- NO--

Chris: BUT IF YOU COME TO THE SHOW TONIGHT,

Joey: YOU MIGHT SEE IT. (Laughter)

Chris: SO BUY TICKETS NOW! THEY'RE STILL AVAILABLE...

Juliette: ALL RIGHTIE. WE HAVE A YOUNG LADY CELEBRATING HER BIRTHDAY TODAY.
SHE'S GONE THROUGH A BIT OF DIFFICULTY, AND WE WOULD LIKE TO WISH HER A HAPPY
BIRTHDAY WITH ALL THE GUYS FROM 'N SYNC. WE WANT TO WISH HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO
MARLENE...

Chris: WE COULD SING IT TO HER.

Justin: WE WANT TO DO IT IN STYLE.

Juliette: ALL RIGHT. (Cheering)

*N SYNC: ~ Happy birthday ~ ~ To you... ~ ~ Happy birthday ~ ~ To you... ~ ~ Happy birthday ~ ~ From... ~
~ 'N Sync ~ ~ Happy birthday ~ ~ To you... ~ (Applause and cheering)

Chris: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARLENE!

Juliette: GOING OUT JUST FOR YOU. I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER, GIRL! WELL, THE SHOW IS
TONIGHT AT MOLSON AMPHITHEATRE. YOU WILL ALL BE THERE? (Cheering) AND THEY ARE
ON TOUR RIGHT NOW, SO IF YOU DON'T LIVE IN TORONTO, THEY'RE COMING TO AN AREA
NEAR YOU.

New Speaker: YES, WE ARE.

Juliette: THIS IS 'N SYNC, AND WE'RE GOING TO GO WITH THE SONG THAT KICKED IT ALL
OFF. YOU WANT TO INTRODUCE IT?

Chris: BEFORE WE INTRODUCE IT, WE JUST WANT TO SAY IF YOU'RE COMING TO THE SHOW
TONIGHT OR ANY NIGHT, THERE'S A CHANCE IF YOU'RE IN THE FIRST TEN ROWS THAT YOU
WILL GET WET! THAT'S ALL WE'RE GOING TO SAY. THIS RIDE MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR
HEALTH! (Juliette laughing)

Lance: NO, BUT HERE'S OUR FIRST VIDEO AND THE ONE THAT MADE US 'N SYNC, "I WANT
YOU BACK." (Cheering)

Juliette: THANKS, GUYS. THAT WAS A REALLY NICE HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOO!
