Anya groaned and rolled over. Would she ever fall asleep? She glared
down at her husband Dimitri. HE obviously had no problem getting
comfortable.
Her stomach twisted itself in knots. What on earth was wrong with her?
Anya had been experiencing these same annoying stomach upsets for the
past couple of days now. It was four in the morning, and she'd been
awake for two hours. How on earth would she be able to face her aunts
tomorrow, who were coming all the way from England to visit her! Pretty,
glamorous Aunt Xenia, and fun-loving, humorous Aunt Olga. Not to
mention Uncle Sandro and Uncle Nickolai, the latter whom she hadn't ever
met. And she hadn't seen the others in more than a decade.
"Nervous?" a voice hissed in her ear. Anya jumped.
"Dimitri! Don't DO that! You scared me half to death!"
Dimitri laughed and ran a hand through his thick brown hair. "Sorry
'bout that." He didn't look the least bit sorry.
"How did you know I was up?" Anya asked, glaring at him crossly.
"How could I not? Did anyone ever say that you toss and turn like an
elephant?"
Anya hit him in the face with her pillow. "Elephants don't toss and
turn."
"How would you know? But seriously, Anya, don't worry! You'll be
fine!"
Anya sighed, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. "Dimitri, I
haven't seen my relatives for years! What will I say? What will I do?
Surely-"
"Surely they'll find you to be the same annoying, smartmouthed little
brat you've always been," Dimitri replied with a straight face. Even
Anya couldn't help but laugh.
"See? You'll do fine!" With that, Dimitri flopped back, pulling Anya
with him. She cuddled up tight against his and fell back to sleep.
