This episode was directed by Cindy Williams and you can see that she wanted something going on between Laverne and Lenny. They basically spend the entire episode touching or flirting. This is done in a very subtle way. You rarely saw that in the Milwaukee episodes. When Lenny is down because of Sabrina (the waitress he has the crush on and can't get her attention) Laverne caresses his arm or comforts him when in Milwaukee eps, she put her hand on his head and, disgusted, wiped the grease off her hand. It's nice to see her act as a real friend in this episode.
