Squiggy and Moth
by SqueakyDear Notebook:
First thing I want to say is that this thing here was all Shirley's idea. She said it would be nice for me to have one of those dariens or whatever she calls it. Dariens... yuck! Those things are for girls. That stuff is for girls. But a notebook--- that's stuff's for men.
Let's see what happened today... I woke up, greased my hair, went to work, got slapped by an old lady (she thought I was stealing her grocieries; I ain't helping old people no more) and then I went back home.
Oh yeah, on the way home I found this little kitty. He was hiding all alone alone behind some trash cans. He's a nice kitty. It's got a yellow ears and a yellow tail and a yellow tummy. Okay it's a yellow cat. I puthim inisde my jacket and took him home. I had to punch Lenny in the stomach 'cause he kept pulling the kitty's tail.
The kitty's got no name yet. Lenny wanted to call him "Four Legged Thing", but it's too long. Besides I had a dog called that when I was a kid and I don't want to get all confused.
It's kinda nice to have a cat around the apartment. Makes me feel like a dad, you know? I feed him and take care of him and I'm always putting newspaper sheets on the floor.
Since I ain't got no kids of my own, I think I'm going to call him "My Only True Heir". Yeah, Moth.. You're a genius, Squiggy.
Gotta stop writing now. Moth is stuck on Lenny's head.

Dear Notebook:
Okay, okay I know i promised Shirley I would write every night, so sorry for that. But three months ain't that much time anyways...
I haven't had a haircut in three months and I still look handsome.
Today was a boring day. I woke up, greased my hair, went to work, got kicked by an old man. I will stop helping old people! Then I went home to my dear Moth.
Moth can't leave the apartment now. He's forbidden to ever go back to Laverne and Shirley's. See, Shirley had made this fancy dinner for Carmine and Moth ate half of it. She almost forgave Moth 'cause she thought it had been her fault for not paying attention to the table while she was making out with Carmine on the couch. (You can't see me, but I'm biting the palm of my hand right now. Smooch, smooch, smooch!)Shirley got all crazy when Moth thought Boo Boo Kitty was a real cat--- a girl cat... Now he can't go back down there. And it's too bad 'cause he really liked it down there 'cause it's preattier and all even with all the junk they got. But he's happy home too. And don't tell anyone this, but I think of him as a feline Squiggy.

Dear Notebook:
I can't stand it anymore! I'm scared, Notebook! Moth's lost! I don't know where he is. I came home from the groceries yesterday and he was gone! I asked everyone if they had seen him, but nobody has.
I punched Lenny right in the face. He forgot to close the window in the morning and Moth got out.

Dear Notebook:
Everybody wants to cheer me up, but I tell 'em it's no use. I gotta tell them something.

Dear Diary:
Squiggy found Moth today. I know i should be happy, but not everything turned out the way we expected. See, Moth didn't fall from the window. Someone left the door open and the cat walked out. Squiggy found him wondering around the hallway. He told me so this afternoon. with tears in his eyes he told me how Moth didn't want him to touch him. Then he said how a boy came and the cat jumped right in his arms; the cat had forgotten all about Squiggy. I told him that maybe that wasn't Moth, but he knew it was. It was wearing the green collar Squiggy had bought him. It cost 10 cents, but it was a nice collar.
I told him right away that I was appalled. I was ready to go upstairs and tell that kid that the cat had an owner. The collar proves it, but Squiggy said I shouldn't. He said that he was actually glad to have gotten rid of Moth. I don't believe him 'cause --- he told me not to tell anyone, but I can tell you Diary--- he was crying. He really did love that cat and I know it hurts him to have lost Moth.
Another thing, Laverne spilled Milk and Pepsi on my "Stuuffed Cats and Things" magazine. She makes me so mad sometimes!

Dear Notebook:
Today I lost Moth to a kid. I told Shirley all about it and I cried. Well my eyes were leaking... Okay I was crying! Crying, crying! So what? Who cares about what I do anyway?

Dear Notebook:
I ain't no good at saying things to people so I guess I gotta tell you then. I kind of lied to Shirley---and you. I know it's silly to lie to a piece of paper, but I don't like talking about some stuff.
Moth was taken by no kid. And he got out of no door. I was the one that left the window open, not Lenny, though I did blame him for it.
I didn't even see Moth walking to the window. I thought he was asleep in his little box.. Before I knew it, there he was and I ran to catch him, but I didn't get there on time.
The garbage bin below was empty.

A Note on Squiggy's Table
Squig:
You left your notebook on my couch. I put it on your bed.
I just wanted to say that I accidentally spilled some juice on one of Laverne's smutty magazines. Thanks for the idea, Squig. It felt great though now I feel kinda guilty. Laverne made a mistake when she spilled her Milk and Pepsi on my magazine. People make mistakes all the time. Some worse than others, but the important thing is that they learn from them. And by learning I mean, yes, to learn to be careful with your Milk and Pepsi next time, but also to learn that when you make really bad mistakes that it's okay to talk to your friends about your problems and not lie to them. That's why they are your friends in the first place; so you can count on them for anything. And you can count on us, Squig. When you get home come downstairs and we'll go out and watch a movie. Carmine, Laverne and Lenny will be there too. So what do ya, say?
Your friend,
Shirley
