song lyrics
: A friend asked me to write lyrics to go with some nice guitar work he had done. These were for him, but I never even got to give him the tune for them.
The rain was pouring,
And the seagull soaring,
As the waves crashed black against white.
Her tears were falling,
But his voice was calling,
And he said, "It'll be all right."
"Hold onto gladness,
And the moonlight madness,
And squeeze my hand real tight.
Don't say goodbye,
Beneath this starry sky,
Cuz it ain't gonna end tonight."
"Well, baby, you know how it goes.
Sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows.
Sometimes that winter wind just blows on and on.
But not me.
The years went by,
and the tears ran dry.
And tomorrow became today.
Sorrow and joy,
For three girls and a boy,
And the baby that passed away.
They both got older,
And the the nights got colder,
But life wouldn't let him stay.
Ten years he's gone,
But she's still living on,
And tonight she can still hear him say,
"Well, baby, you know how it goes.
Sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows.
Sometimes that winter wind just blows on and on.
But not me. Not me."
