to wait
: passion in the rawest sense.
Impatiently, I stand beside you,
Impatiently, I bide.
I pray forbearance for us both, love,
To stand, to wait, to hide.
I do not trust my lips upon you,
I do not trust my touch,
Love, I cherish every moment,
And cherish it too much.
Oh, I could fall beneath your pressure,
Oh, I could fall beneath your loves.
For we are wise as serpents, Bear,
Though innocent as doves.
Right gladly would I be your lover,
Right gladly would I stay,
For I've the power to make love last,
Forever and a day.
If you but knew the faith within me,
If you but knew my heart,
If you were wise, you'd make me yours,
We'd never stand apart.
