According to the title, one would say, that Forces of nature is going to be one of them disaster spectacles like Volcano, Hard rain or Deep Impact, but its actually a romantic comedy. Its about Ben (Ben Affleck), a young man, who has two days until his wedding. He has to get to Savannah and choses to travel by an airplane, eventhough he´s afraid of flying. Inside the plane he meets Sarah (Sandra Bullock), a good looking but definitely a wild chick. The plane doesnt even lift off, instead it crashes down, making Ben swear not to get inside any plane no more. This "disaster" is just the beginning of Ben´s and Sarah´s journey, since they both are going to Savannah. As usually in this type of movie, their voyage is full of other disasters and weird situations. During their travel, Ben starts to doubt about the purpouse of his marriage and slowly falls in love with Sarah (surprise, eh ?), even if shes completely different from him.

Well, what an average and uninteresting script, eh ? Actually it might be pretty average script, but the movie sure isnt an average romantic comedy. First of all, Bullock and Affleck act pretty well and have a good amount of the right chemistry, which is important in this type of movie. But what is the main reason, why this movie was worth seeing is the visual style. I wouldnt expect such an eye candy in a regular romantic comedy. The person responsible for the photography must have been pretty genuine. The way camera works in this movie reminds me of John Schwarzman´s handling in The Rock and that is a spectacular action movie. What more, the photography stays true to the movies title and focuses itself on all forms of weather conditions. The sky always looks so beautiful, no matter if its crystal clear, raining or even during a hurricane. Expecially awesome is the scene, where Ben and Sarah are running through the rain. The filmmakers worked with a similar visual effects technology, like the one used in The Matrix. The raindrops are extremely slowed down, but the actors are moving almost normally. Now this IS a breathtaking scene, thats for sure.

The music was alright as well. Some good electronic songs and few guitar pieces make a fine combo. From what I remember, I heard two songs from Faithless and maybe one from Massive Attack, im not sure tho. Of course the finest song was U2´s Everlasting Love, during the ending credits. And the last thing, that made the movie stand above average romantic comedies, was the ending. Well, it was a 100 percent happy end, thats true, but it sure was a very original happy end. Not the best movie, but sure not the worst movie. I enjoyed it.
