pmdb - personal movie database This program is still very much work-in-progress, so don't expect a flawless program. With pmdb you can create a local version of the Internet Movie Database on your own pc. To do this you will need to download the listfiles from one of the imdb ftp sites or Aminet. Be warned that some of the listfiles are pretty big. Pmdb uses the listfiles to build a database which can be searched using the gui. Installation Run Setup.exe and follow the instructions. Start pmdb. On the first screen select Settings. Enter the path to the listfiles and the path where the database will be created. The diffs path is used for updating the listfiles. Close the settings window, and select Build database from the tools menu. Now sit back while the database is being created. Usage Search for a movie or person. Use of wildcards is possible. Double-clicking a found title or name shows the info window. Updating To keep your personal movie database up-to-date, you can update the listfiles using the weekly updates available on the Internet Movie Database ftp sites and Aminet. Place the diff-files in the directory you selected in the settings window, and choose Applydiffs from the Tools menu. After updating the listfiles you can rebuild the database.
