Ms. Streisand, there have been very few people that have brought me as much enjoyment through the many years as you have. I know that you constantly are admired both near and far, so my admiration must be very insignificant to you. However, I am sure th t you must feel that you are really loved and admired, far more than most mortals. She's also a talented, spirited and intelligent person, which is why she has successfully made some "classic" films like "Funny Girl", "The Way We Were", "Yentl" nd "What's Up Doc?" Lastly, she's a compassionate, caring person and humanatarian who, for most of her career, never charged for her singing/live performances because she felt a civic responsibility. Whether you agree with her politics or not, you have t admit this is true. She's an incredibly gifted performer--the last of her kind.

I've enjoyed perusing your web site today (and I've seen your book in the stores); will likely subscribe to "The Barbra File" soon. I've been a fan since the age of 11 in 1971 (!) and founded and ran for several years The Simply Streisand Fan Club - an in ependant club which bought photos from the celebrity discount photo houses in Florida and hence offered 8x10 glossies to our members, along w. a newsletter gleaned from wire sources & mimeographed by a friend in Pennsylvania (those were the "low-tech" day ), for what would now be a shockingly low annual membership fee. This club was the effort of myself and four other teenagers and one woman in her early twenties. (Yes, this was when Barbra had the red hot youth appeal of Madonna or Alanis Morrissette.) We sadly, had to abandon our efforts after everyone went off to college. But I remember with extreme fondness those "Simply Streisand" years, the waves of fan outpourings from around the world after every new release (particularly from Australia & New Zeala d - therefore I was particularly glad that she finally appeared in concert there earlier this year!), and the correspondence I carried on at that time with Barbra fans all over the globe (some of whom became lifelong friends). I therefore know how gratify ng your own efforts must be. Best of continued luck!

Barbra has been my idol for at least 35 years. I have an extensive collection of art, magazines in which she was on the cover, movies, tapes, albums and cd's. I could put Rosie to shame. I saw her in concert in LA in '95 and that was a dream come true. I had tears of joy running down my face the entire concert. When she married James Brolin, I was very happy for her to have found a perfect love. She is the BEST!!!!!

I fell in love with her voice when I was 12 year old and I heard "The Main Event and Woman In Love on the radio. Why has she never performed Woman in Love in concert. This is one of her all time biggest hits and I feel it is her most beautiful vocal rec rding ever. Also during the heyday of disco she did a couple of dance anthems that still stand the test of time. Do you think Barbra will ever go out on a limb musically and do some more dance oriented music. When I hear her voice I get chills. No oth r singer can do that. One final comment. I do not think Barbra gets enough respect from the rock community. When will she be inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. She is really not a rock artist, but she is more famous now than she was in the si ties when the beatles, rolling stones came and went, but Barbra is still here. Whether or not people will admit it, Barbra has affected the rock n roll landscape, not because she is a consumate rock songwriter or sings rock music but because her voice ha outlasted all these rock n roll bands/artists that came and went. Can anyone please tell me if Babs is going to perform in England this year?? I am one of those poor, poor MILLIONS (!) of people who have never had the opportunity to see her live, and it would just kill me (KILL me I tell ya!) if I don't get to see her p rform before she finally quits the world stage for good. Finally... other Streisand fans! I am alone here in Louisiana. Barbra has changed my life. I know that sounds horribly cliche, but I don't know a better way of saying what I feel. I am 16 years old- if not the only fan in Louisiana, definately the yo ngest. I became a fan after seeing "In & Out" in the theater. I had just come out of the closet to my friends; I lost a lot of them. Anyway, when the movie ended I left the theater and began walking to my car. Lying just under the car door there was a wad of MONEY. I picked it up and counted it: $50! My mother said that I could keep it, but I didn't hold on to it for long. We went to the mall later that day, and I bought two movies (Funny Girl and What's Up, Doc?) and the One Voice cd. I thought it would be cool to be a Streisand fanatic: I had just admitted to being gay, and I wanted to play up to certain stereotypes. Forget it!!! The novelty of being a gay Barbra Streisand fan was overwhelming: I actually LIKED her work. I now own 12 of her mo ies and 29 of her FABULOUS albums! At the moment I'm waiting for The Second Barbra Streisand Album and The Third Album to arrive in the mail. Barbra's sweet inspiration has been so important to me... she'll always be a "friend".

Hello gorgeous!…. I’ve posted some messages before, this is the dissimilar one. Now I’m 19. I just want to say hello and to describe how I fell to Barbra. First of all I have to confess that I’ve been Babs’s fan since the end of 1997. I’ve known her by I ought Celine Dion’s album(Let’s talk about love) “Tell Him” captured my heart since there. So I continue buy her album I could find. The album named “Memories” is the vary first album of mine. I fell in love with her songs such as “You Don’t Bring Me Flow rs”,”My Heart Belongs To Me” … and many more. But that was the songs in 70’s. I never knew that her career began since 1962. I’ve known about her career from my mum(Barbra is the one of her idols as she loved as a child). She told me about the movie calle “The Way We Were” which Streisand starred. But in Thailand, it’s hard to find her collections. So I could only bought most of her albums. After I heard “As If We Never Said Goodbye”,“My Man” from “The Concert” album I just didn’t know why I was in tears nd completely thrilled. And the “Yentl” medley made me felt that she’s the marvelous woman who could did that last incredible note, I think no one but Barbra! Even now I still finding “The Concert” (VDO version), If you had this collection please contact e I would pay for it. I had a chance to see “Fanny Girl” by local cable TV in Thailand, and it was a thrilling moment that I can’t explain. As Fanny Brice performed “I’m The Greatest Star”,“My Man”, I was absolutely adoring Barbra as the legend of perform r. Though I’ve seen that movie only once, and I still need it to be my collection, if anyone could help me this favour please contact me. I’d rather want to watch it over and over than only once in my life! Many things in her career that I thought I could ’t find a word to explain. I saw BARBRA on stage 12/64...in "Funny Girl", this was just before her first CBS TV Special...she was known primarily in NY & LA when I saw her...I was OVERWHELMED by her performance on the Winter Garden stage. I went out and bought all of her albums. I elt I had "discovered" her...yeah, RIGHT! I watched all of her early TV Specials...She was so totally unique and exciting. I ventured to Times Square in 1968, and stood in front of the mobbed Criterion Theatre to catch Barbra's arrival at the premiere of the film,"Funny Girl". There were so many people in Times Square that night, it seemed like New Year's Eve! Anyway, I will lways remember the early years of her career. BARBRA moved on, trying new things,as any really great artist would, but her new directions left me cold. I noticed her singing technique was leaning towards a stronger perfectionist style, resulting in a lack of feeling,(I felt), for the songs she was singing. I watched Rosie O'Donnell interview BARBRA the other day,(it was a repeat), and felt it was Barbra's best interview ever. She seemed relaxed and wonderfully human. I felt a warmth from this interview that seems to have been missing over the years. Maybe h r marriage has changed her for the better. Rosie was the ultimate "fan", and Barbra responded to her questions in an open way I had never seen from her before. ANYWAY...I have original PLAYBILLS and souvenir programs from "I Can Get It For You Wholesale"...when the show tried out in Boston...also the Boston PLAYBILL and souvenir program of the tryout of "Funny Girl" (with rehearsal photos of Barbra) and the Broa way production. I also have a souvenir program from the 1965 Concert she gave in Atlanta, GA...filled with rare shots of Barbra in her early days. Does anyone have a dollar value sense of what these items are worth? I might be interested in selling. THANKS!

It has not actually been long time that I got interested in your songs, voice and appearance, though I had been familiar with your name long long time ago. I would like to make a few comments about Barbra. I was a Barbra fan for many years , in particular in my teenage years in the early 1980's. I found her voice to be of a beautiful clarity and quality and her interpretation of many songs wonderful when c mpared to other singers. Her version of "Somewhere" is wonderful. However I I found my appreciation of her to waver slowly for various reasons. I found it appaling that the price of tickets to see Barbra in London in 1994 , ( I live in Scotland ) were over £50 to over £260. Many of Barbras fans are working class an some might be either unemployed or on low incomes. Surely she should have thought of this when the tickets were being priced. After all the fans who have bought her albums would more than likely have wanted to see her in Concert. I would love to have ut could not afford it. Now I hear the tickets for her Las Vegas concert are expensive too. Come off it Barbra , You are a very rich woman. You owe someting to your fans. Its extremely dissapointing to me. Barbra claims to love acting. She has only made 5 films in the last 20 years . That is a poor record for someone who supposedly loves acting. I think that Barbra's acting carrer which showed so much promise with at the beginning with a diversity of rol s and very good performances in films such as "Funny Girl" " The Way We Were " and "The Owl and the Pussycat" has now completely collapsed. Barbra in my opinion has become too vain and too controling, Barbra please act and let someone else direct and roduce , invest all your energy into acting and I believe that you will give perfoirmances of outstanding merit. I believe that since you began producing and directing,your acting has suffered ( However Yentl being a notable exception). " The mirror has two faces" and "The Prince of Tides" were appaling vanity productions which were of no cinematic merit. Do Barbra films honestly believe that "Prince of Tides" should have won the best film oscar when it had as its competition a film such as "The silenc of the lambs" as its rival. Come on !!!! Barbras carrer seems to be going nowhere now. Ok she is still having hit records and makes the occassional films , But she will never be known or regarded as a great actress or director, Something I believe sg e seems to want to achieve. Im really glad she has met Jim Brolin. She need the security of the realtionship with him My advice to Barbra (1) Forget about directing , let Scorcese, Allen do it. You act , I find that you are a wonderfull actress . I loved your performance in " Yentl". It was gentle , warm . relaxed and comlex. However films such as Prince and Mirror only show us your i securities about your looks, and your image. Hey I think that you are a great looker. You would have made a great Cleopatra. (2) I like that you take chances talking about your political beliefs, well done. (3) Take smaller parts in films or supporting parts. Improve on your art. You haven not had much acting experince in the last 20 years yet you claim to love acting.Look at Meryl Streep. She lets directors do their job and she does hers. I think that your next part should be in the film of " Sunset Boulervard" You are made for this role. Anyway good luck and best wishes James. Thought you guys would like to know that Babs is giving a one hour interview to Clive James (T.V talk show host) talking about her marriage, Millenium Concert & her life etc(as per the T.V listings). It is being shown on British Television on ITV (main r val to BBC) on Saturday 23rd October 1999 at 10pm. I know i'll forgoe my saturday night out this week to watch & tape the show! I'm a huge Babs fan, aged 27, from Glasgow in Scotland, Great Britain. She honeymooned with James only 15 miles from where I live! I couldn't believe it and only reported in the press when she left a couple of days later!! Never mind, maybe someday my dream will come true and if not able to meet her, would dearly love to hear her live. I am 47 and have loved barbra since I was 16. She doesn't know it but she inspired me to sing. I have produced 4 albums and toured for 12 years all over the East half of the US. I pray for her all the time and I'm happy she has finally found someone wh is as true as she is. Meeting her just wouldn't be enough for me, by that I don't mean I am after her or anything. What I mean is that I believe she is worthy of listening to and would want to hear what she is going through in her life. I used to have dreams where we would walk along the beach or she would come over and we would do just that, talk. I hope doesn't sound strange, but I feel like I am truly a friend and we of course have never met. That's probably why so many people love her. They under tand her humanness and yet just like most everyone she has areas where she shines, but it is so bright that you can never forget that sound or sight. I love your website. Very informative, it's so nice knowing that there are ton of "Barba" fans out there. I have been a fan of hers for nearly 30 years and have all of her albums and cd's. I fell in love with her when I saw "Funny Girl" way back in the seventies. I'd love to be in Las Vegas on New Year's eve to hear and see her in person. I've been a fan of Barbra Streisand's for many years. I've seen everyone of her movies at least 5 times each. I have video's, cassettes and cd's in my house and in my car, so that I can listen to her all the time. People who know me, know that Bab's is my favorite singer and I sing every song with her. People who hear us sing together say we sound terrific and fantastic blend. But, I do have to admit, that when her signing stops and mine continues, well something very "ugly" happens. My life long dre m is to be able to sound and act just like Barbra Streisand. I have tried to see her in person; however, she appears so seldom, that her tickets are sold out within hours. I know just being an advid fan of hers, longing to meet her or see her perform will never award me that honor. I'm sure most of the world feels the same as I do. But, one can hope that they will have the privilge and glory to meet who I consider the mos beautiful and mesmerizing person in the world. Hi, I want to say to all the people that read this: I think i am the only 13 year-old that is obsessed with Barbra Streisand. While every other kid in my 7th grade class is listing to Nsync or Back Street Boys; I'm at home in my room looking at my clooection of Barbra pictures and CDs while my favorite song, The Way We Were, plays in the backgroud. Thanks for the best fanclub in the world. Barbra Streisand is simply the greatest singer,performer,actress,director etc. that the world has or will ever know. I have ADORED Barbra Streisand ever since I can remember. I have all her albums, all her books, and collect anything that has her picture on it or some information about her. I adore her voice and highly respect the woman that she is.
