the thin man
goes home (USA 1944)
willam powell arrives home from work and
reads an item in the newspaper that presumably has something to
do with his wife, but he seems cheerful enough none the less. as
he walks in his wife (myrna loy) is sitting with his parents, she
stands and greets him as he comes in. he then asks his father:
"father does the old woodshed still stand in it`s sheltered
nook amonst the trees?" (father) "yes." then as he
opens the paper and shows his wife the article he asks his
father: "and does the trusty razor strop still hang behind
the door?" (father) "no, i use electric razor
now." he then takes myrna across his knee with her saying:
"not in front of your parents." he then proceedes to
give her a dozen spanks on her behind with the rolled-up
newspaper, during which he comments: "this`ll teach you the
power of the press." the spanking is pretty mild.
