This is the gorilla soldier costume. It was created for and used in the original Planet of the Apes film. It later saw use in Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Battle for the Planet of the Apes and the Planet of the Apes television series. The costume consists of a dark plumb colored leather jacket, gloves, plumb colored under shirt, pants, leather boots with fake gorilla toe and a bandoleer with leather pouches. Later on during the making of the television series six of these costumes were modified for the Gorilla Police wardrobe under General Urko's command. They were modified with silver rank stripes painted on the front. "V" stripes, "II" stripes, and the "M" stripes. For the sequel, Beneath, Western Costume created another gorilla outfit to help outfit General Ursus' invading army. Because of budget issues these Background costumes were made of a cheaper vinyl material since they weren't meant to be seen up close. They weren't as nice as these leather outfits, but still a cool piece to own (if you can get one).
