Jonathan and Richard Lee Jackson BOTH played in a celebrity softball game on Sunday, September 19, 1999 at the Oakland A's stadium! This celebrity game took place right before the A's took on the Royals. I was there and I would like to share my memorable day!!
I attended the event with a few of my friends and when we got in close to 11am, OMG, Jonathan and Richard are out there in the field warming up!!!!! AHHHH!!! Ok, so for a few minutes we were in complete chaos (Jonathan in a baseball uniform can do that to a girl!). Finally, I'm like, ok guys, we NEED to sit down. The Stadium was completely empty (there were maybe like max 50 people there) so we say forget what it says on our tickets and just got the best seats. Right next to the dugout, first row. We had made these posters to hang up....one said "Jonathan, Home Base Is Here!" all in these really cute cut-out bubble letters filled in with pictures of Jon. Another was for Richard that said "We'll Be Seeing You ANY DAY NOW." There were a few other ones too. So we go to hang them up by the railing, and we're
getting all this attention from the staff who's asking who are we there for, etc. We were like the ONLY fans there...it was so awesome. Later on, people came early for the game and saw the celebrity game going on but for the longest time, it was only us and family members and Breast Cancer Survivors and Sponsor staff and such. Ok, now the cool part comes. Jonathan's MOM came up
to us and asked to take pictures of our posters!!! We were like OMG!!!!! She was SO NICE!!! So she goes back to her seats and calls her sons over, points over to us, speaks to them for a minute....and then...they start walking towards us! OOOOOOHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYY, we were like, NOOOO, they are NOT coming over to us!!!! So they come and talk to us and admired the posters. Signed ALL this stuff for us. Took pictures. I thought it was SO unbelievable nice of them to come up to US!
Jonathan was wearing a navy blue baseball shirt with white sleeves and it said Hollywood on it in red letters, those tight baseball pants (black), a red belt, and a blue and red baseball
cap. His hair was getting long, you could tell from the back. He looked so good. I barely even paid attention to any of the other stars there but also there were Richard, Jonathan Silverman, Joshua Morrow, Zachery Ty Bryan, and a bunch of other people. Jonathan did so many cute little things. Just watching him was SUCH a pleasure. He's got a GREAT smile and the dimples....aaaaahhhhh! He's a really good softball player too, from what I could tell. He hit the ball well, and caught it well too. He was also the pitcher for a while there too. He was constantly talking to the coach (I guess that's what he was?) too, so I think he had a kind of a leadership role there. I was so proud of him though...I guess it was the last inning, and he was in the outfield (?). The guy hit the ball, and Jon caught it!
LOL ok, that doesn't sound too exciting, but trust me, it was awesome looking! LOL So the Hollywood Stars beat the Kiss Team (they were playing against a Radio Station) 15 to 5 or something like that. Jon and Richard were sweeties, and signed things for everyone who asked. There were A LOT of cute little moments in the game, like when Jonathan and Richard are patting each other on the back, when they're posing with the Elephant Mascot, him running, him throwing the ball, him swinging those bats, just
the way he stands even!
After the game we headed to the reception after the game. So we head up to the third floor, and we find the "Westside Club"...basically it was a huge sports bar and restaurant, kinda ritzy. We find the radio people there and the cancer people...and we're like BINGO, we found it!...but they never
showed up in the restaurant. After several escapades that I won't bore you with, and after over an hour or so of waiting, Joshua Morrow comes out from the luxury suite where all the stars were watching the game. My friend goes up and asks for an autograph, and then asks if he'll ask Jonathan to come out. 2 minutes later, he does! AHHHHHH!!! He's wearing jeans (I think),
those black Nikes, a grey shirt (it may have been the Tommy Hilfiger one from SSW) and a grey jacket/windbreaker/anorak thing that looked awesome on him. He was wearing the necklace he wore to the Soiree, and a stud earring. His hair was slicked back like in the mxg interview. I noticed that it was
kinda streaked with different shades of brown/blond but I'm thinking it's naturally like that when grown out. We ask to take pictures with him but we didn't want to push our luck, so we settled on several shots of one group picture instead of individual ones with each one of us.When he first came out, he said in this cute voice, ‘were you ladies waiting for me?' in this tone like he was totally not burdened or bothered by it. He was completely accommodating and very sweet. I think he thought it was really cool that we were there to support him. No one else there had fans there specifically for them. His mom especially, I thought, our presence was a good thing. Ok, so after he takes pictures with us, he goes back in. We're all on cloud nine. After spending over 6 hours in the stadium, we leave with our heads in the clouds and taking home some awesome memories that I'll never forget!
