Mr. Andy

Justin: "Dunkle is still over there with Carmen's parents. Should I go grab him?"
Mr. Andy: "Hmmm...nah... let him spend some time with his in-laws."

Mr. Andy
Mr. Andy is someone I've kind of known on sight for a while, but I just started hanging out with him during my Senior year. As my only male friend in InterVarsity, Mr. Andy has continued to watch my back and make sure the girls don't take over (although there are a disproportionate number of them in his year's Senior class). I call him Mr. Andy because he taught a bunch of midjets over the summer and the little guys would call him Mr. Andy, and I thought that was pretty funny, so I've gotten into the habit of calling him Mr. Andy as well.

Mr. Andy has a sadistic sense of humor, which I can really relate to. The year after my graduation (1999), I hung out with him and Rachel off and on, watching movies at her place, or wandering around looking for more people to play Spades or Hearts with. We even played a few games of pool after making a token appearance at the Paper Ball. The one event that totally stands out, though, is trash pick-up for Spring Fair, when it seems like Mr. Andy, Rachel, Elissa, Katiek, and me pulled endless shifts (there were a lot of others, but these were the people I would see ALL THE TIME!) It was fun, in a bonding sort of way (Elissa even cooked dinner for all of us!), but don't let anyone tell you trash pick-up itself is fun; they're either paid off, or Mr. Andy has some great blackmail on them. (Poor Mr. Andy was in charge this year)(this dubious honor meant he would spend his entire weekend working back to back shifts trying to make up the like 200 manhour requirements!)

The year before I entered medical school, 2000, saw Mr. Andy and me playing extensive amounts of computer games, Illuminati, Risk, cards, and watching many, many movies as we tried to kill time between working full-time. In addition to the occasional trips to the Inner Harbor and ESPN Zone, bowling with IV, the occasional dinner at Elissa's, and doing random activities at Rachel's place. Needless to say, since I moved to Philadelphia, we've been doing a bit less, lately...
