In contrast to little Valerie Salter, Elissa is the closest to peer equal - on the Little Scale - of all the girls I know (although Mag is the runner up) due to her sadistic sense of humor. I can appreciate cruelty. Oddly enough, Elissa was the second person I talked to most frequently over e-mail. (little Vallie being the first) This was due to two things: A) She has incredible amounts of time. I mean, with a major in English and Anthropology, just think about it; and, B) Not only does she have a sadistic sense of humor, she grew up with a brother who apparently is my exact Caucasian counterpart - kind of like a freakishly tall and goofy Justin. The last two years in Baltimore, she (along with Jon) led the other small group I attended, and her group took most of the abuse I handed out each week. |
One of our small group events was the Midnight Breakfast. After running out of soda, I said, "I'm going to go get some more soda. DO NOT TAKE PICTURES WHILE I'M GONE!" Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I came back I found Elissa and Brooke taking pictures of each other with chewed up bacon in their mouth - did I mention her sadistic sense of humor? I first "met" Elissa when she starred as "Mike Spoon" in the IV Senior Night play, which I found terribly amusing. Elissa, however, notes that, "Justin, you kept coming up to me all year and saying, 'Elissa? Yes! I remembered your name!'" I of course do not remember this at all, but then again, I do so much stupid stuff in my life that I don't have time to keep track of all of it! |
During the summer, she was in Mexico, the land where Tequila flows like water, studying away (or so she says!), while hanging out at discos, braving earthquakes, and even swinging by Acapulco for a weekend in her free time. Elissa was incredibly popular down in Mexico, and was repeatedly approached by many, many men, including some representing a mail order bride company! |
The last year I was in Baltimore, Elissa was one of the mighty Exec team for InterVarsity, which was lead by Male Authority Figure Jon. In addition she succeeded Andy as the head of trash pick up, which meant she spent the weekend covered in trash and begging for help ("Hi Elissa - Michele told me you called up begging and grovelling, and I'd get more of the same if I showed up." "Justin, when have you ever seen me beg and grovel? I just told her to do whatever it took to get you here - apparently it didn't take much!") |
At any rate, Elissa is one of my more amusing friends, although she's gotten quite adept at avoiding tacklehugs (something Laura has not learned to do, as of yet). |
