RECAP: Lucky and Liz spent a lot of their senior year in high school apart. Lucky's music career was going very well. They decided that they would have to go to two different colleges in two different cities.

That summer, Lucky and Liz didn't want to be apart. They would have plenty of time to practice being apart soon enough. V had no problem when Lucky asked to have Liz go on the tour with him now that she was out of school. Luke and Laura's permission came easily enough as well. Liz worked on the stage as a volunteer. She didn't want to just be sitting there being a girlfriend. She wanted to do something for the concerts. It helped that she actually knew her way around the stage. Lucky loved having her right there when he was on the stage arranging things, and doing sound checks. All he had to do was look over in her direction, he felt uplifted. Most of the time, their hotel rooms would be right next to each other. Liz sometimes shared a room with V if the rooms were suites. But she always knew that Lucky was not far away. It comforted her to know that he was so near. Yet it also hurts to know that all of that would soon change when they got to college in two months.

The last concert of the summer before Lucky and Liz went back to Port-Charles took place in Philadelphia. Liz was up on the catwalk checking the lighting when she heard V calling her name on the stage. Liz leaned down and saw V looking around the stage, asking people where Liz was. Liz called out V's name several times before she got her attention.

Liz: V!! I'm up here!
V was turned around for a while, then she looked up and saw Liz.

V: Oh, geeze! Lizzie! What are you doing up there!!
Liz: I'm checking the lighting! I've gotta make sure all the colors are correct!
V: All right, all right! You know, for a volunteer, you work harder than the people that get paid! But when you are done up there, could you come down so I can talk to you about tonight?
Liz: Tonight?
V: Yeah, I need you to do something different for tonight's concert. Just ...come down when you are done, OK?
Liz: OK. I'll just be a few more minutes.

The crowd was finally settling down. Liz breathed a sigh of relief when she headed for the door leading backstage. V had asked her to help direct the crowd to their seats. Liz had even gone back to the hotel to shower and changed so she would look more presentable. She chose a dark pantsuit with a red blouse. A dress would not be convenient at all if somehow she needed to climb up the catwalk or do any other work for that matter. The stage manager handed her a headphone the minute she walked through the stage door. Liz put it around her head, and stood in her usual position watching the entire concert. Lucky was amazing--as he always was. Liz smiled as she saw the happiness in Lucky's eyes as he played his music. She could also hear the screaming in the crowd whenever Lucky smiled that heart-melting smile of his. With all this fame, she was so glad that Lucky was still the same boy she knew three years ago. Maybe he's grown some, so had she. But the basic sweet, passionate and loyal nature were all still there.
The song ended, and Liz heard the stage manager call her name and ask her to run onto the stage to get the guitar from Lucky. Liz was puzzled for a second. Why wouldn't Lucky need the guitar? Was he planing on just singing this next song? She didn't remember this part of the program at the rehearsals. But she ran onto the stage as she was asked.
The lights were dimmed down as she approached Lucky. She reached Lucky yet he didn't show a sign of handing her the guitar. Instead, he took her hand, and pulled her closer. From his back, his other hand appeared with a dozen red roses. Liz was astounded. What was he doing? As Liz slowly took the flower into her hands, she suddenly noticed that the other musicians were no longer on the stage. It was just Lucky and her. Lucky smiled at her, and turned to the audience, with a slow sensual smile that caused the female audience to scream once again, then he announced his next song.

Lucky: This next song, will never be on any of my CD's. I wrote if for the most special person in my life. The most special person I've had the privilege to know. She is more sweet and more beautiful than words can describe. I wrote it for my girl.

The audience was quiet now. Liz held the roses in her hand, feeling herself shaking like an autumn leaf as Lucky turned to face her, and started to sing.

" As you kneel beside your bed tonight
Keep a little prayer for me insight
Know that I will be there when you call
Know that I will catch you if you might fall

Elizabeth
Go to sleep
I wanna watch you breathe
I wanna feel God's peace
All I want is this
Elizabeth

Elizabeth you need to get some rest
So lay your head down upon my chest
Release all your fears and regrets
It's not your fault life's a see through dress

Elizabeth
The night is gone
The sun has come
It's all been done
And all I want is this
Elizabeth

Hoooooooo..............

As you kneel beside your bed tonight
Keep a little prayer for me insight
Elizabeth.................."

The audience remained silent as the song came to an end. Liz's eyes were watering. She felt the first drop of tear roll down her cheek as Lucky pulled her closer, and kissed her softly on the lips. She could hear the audience start to scream, and the curtain started to close in front of them. Lucky held her in his arms, whispered tenderly into her ears.

Lucky: I love you. I love you, Elizabeth.
Liz: I love you, Lucky. I love you.

Lucky kissed Liz once again before he let her get backstage as the other musicians came back on the stage for encores. Lucky ran his hand down Liz's cheek after the kiss, his eyes filled with all the love in his heart.

Lucky: My girl.

Liz smilingly closed her eyes, covered Lucky's hand on her cheek with her own, then turned to run off the stage before the curtain opened again.

********************************
Liz rested her chin on one knee, looked down at all the luggage at the foot of her bed. Tomorrow. Tomorrow she leaves for New York. Nikolas was driving up there with her. Lucky wanted to as well, but she had insisted that he stay and get some rest before school started. The truth was, she was afraid that if she got used to having Lucky around in the brand new city when she first got there, she might never get used to not having him there. She sighed, and closed her eyes. It didn't matter that she'd had several months to get used to the idea of living in a city without Lucky semi-permanently, it still made her tear up every single time she thought about it. The soft knock on the door made her open her eyes. Lucky opened the door, and stood at the door for a second before he came in, then closed the door behind him. He eyed the luggage.

Lucky: Looks like you are all packed.

The corners of Liz's mouth titled up.

Liz: I guess so.

Lucky walked over to the bed, sat down beside Liz. Liz turned her head side ways to look at him as Lucky ran his tongue over his lips. Liz put one hand over Lucky's and leaned against him.

Liz: I can't believe I'm really going tomorrow.

Lucky drew his arm up and wrapped it around Liz.

Lucky: What, You read minds now?

Liz chuckled.

Liz: It's not so hard when it's you.

Lucky held Liz tighter to him.

Lucky: It's gonna be hard not having you around here all the time, Elizabeth.

Liz didn't say anything.

Lucky: But, It's going to be even harder for you, baby. You are going to a new city with only one person you know. Why don't you let me come with you and get you settled in?
Liz: Lucky, we've already been through this. I'll be all right. You need to recuperate before school starts. And if you are worrying about the luggage, I'm sure Nikolas will be glad to lend a hand.
Lucky: I would like to lend that hand to you, Elizabeth.
Liz: Oh, Lucky! You've lent me a hand a thousand times. I need to do this myself, Lucky. Ever since I met you, I've relied on you for everything. Emotionally and otherwise. I can't keep doing that. I'm gonna have to be in that city, on my own, for at least four years. I need to know I can do that without you from the very beginning because I am going to have to do it without you. And also.......

Liz signed, turned her face upward to kiss Lucky gently.

Liz: Lucky, it's hard enough to be separated from you. If you come to New York with me, and help me settle in, I'll miss having you in New York with me so much before I even begin to stand on my own. I'm afraid I won't be able to let you come back, Lucky.

Lucky wrapped both arms around Liz, and held her so tightly as if trying to mold the both of them into one. Something choked in his throat making it hard for him to speak. So he did the only other thing he could think of. He lifted Liz's face that was streaking with tears like his own, leaned down, traced her lips softly with his own. The kiss was so tender, it was almost like it was the first time they'd kissed. Lucky slowly kissed every inch of Liz beautiful soft lips, kissed the tears on her face, and then traced back to her lips. Lucky deepened the kiss as Liz returned the passionate probing inside her mouth with sweet yielding. Lucky kissed her with unrestrained ardor, his hands traced her jaw line, sliding into her glorious hair, back down her neck, down her arms, his lips never leaving hers. Liz curved against Lucky, pulling Lucky down on to the bed with her. Lucky started raining kisses down her neck, her collar bone as he pulled the sweat shirt she was wearing off her shoulders, and kissed her shoulders, arms. He gradually moved his lips across her chest, leaving traces of kisses just above her breasts as his hands under Liz's sweat shirt worked slowly upward on her abdomen, kneading, caressing. The moment he felt his fingers on her breasts, his kisses exploded on Liz's skin. Liz's moan drove Lucky nearly insane, then brought him back to reality instead. He pulled his hand out of Liz's shirt the same moment Liz sat up with him. They took a moment to catch their breaths, and laughed out loud at the same time. Liz rested her head on Lucky's chest as they leaned back against the headboard.

Lucky: Almost forgot that my parents and sister are in the house. You are just impossible to resist.
Liz: You mean, almost impossible to resist. You did stop.
Lucky: Yeah, well, that move probably killed 20 years of my life.

They both laughed again, and stayed in each others arms as they savored the peace and joy they found in each other; clinging to each other one last time before they both head toward the future, hoping when the circle completes, their roads would bring them back to each other so they would never have to leave again.
