now, although so far on my profile, i have been making a point of it to be anti-chav about it all, the ironic thing in all of this is, I grew up on a council estate from the ages of 5-15. I hung around with chavs from the ages of 12-15 and i was a wannabe chav myself. I wanted to make a biography complete with maps (courtesy of Streetmap.co.uk) and photo,s of various accounts of my 10 years of residency there.
The council estate was Waterloo Estate in Poole Dorset. I will even display a photographic section called "Then and Now" which will contain a few photo,s of the place from the 80,s compared to how it is now.
Waterloo Estate (in Poole, Dorset)
In this road right here (Allenby Road), in the year of 1986 or 1987 me and a kid called Nathan (he was always getting us both into trouble) went around each of them houses, and we started collecting empty milk bottles from the doorsteps (a lot more people had milk delivered to them each day back then) and started smashing them all over that road right there, and in was in that actual half of the road aswell. In the end my mum found out about it and she went mad. She ended up making me sweep it all up. Must of annoyed that milk man tho that following morning, finding no empties to be returned.
In this road here (Allenby Close), the very road i use to live in, i was once up a time playing in that very spot (where the red dot indicates) on my bike in about the year 1984 or 85 i believe. A Ford Princess came quite fast right round that corner there and smashed right into me. Its a fairly sweeping turn there, and the bushes dont allow you to see whats round the corner at all. He must of been going fairly fast, as i ended up flying over his car and landing behind it. It absolutely killed, i couldn't move properly for about 2-3 days afterwards. Lets be honest, hitting a child on his bike when your only going 10-15mph (which would be a sensible speed to go around a blind sweeping corner at) is not gonna have such a physical impact on a child that he/she would end up flying over the car. I,ve always hate the site of Ford Princess's ever since.
Not much to say about this pic really. Its just simply the footpath you have to walk thru to get from Allenby Close to the Rec or vice versa. The posts at the end however are the same original posts that have been there all that time. Their fairly corroded now. Those bushes didn't exist tho when i was living there.
Here's a picture of the Rec from one angle. I,ve drawn in an artificial tree (badly) from where a real tree once upon a time existed. We use to like climbing right to the top of it, where you could see much of pooles peninsular. We use to like shouting out "I can see Poole hospital". Then someone at the bottom would always reply with "yeah....and if you dont shut up, your gonna end up going there in a minute". The other tree where the arrow is pointing to i call "The Tree of Woe". The reason why is once upon a time one of the older kids tied me too its base and kept slapping me in the face till i cried. I so hated it. I seen a happy slap sketch before of a teen tied to the railings of a block of flats stairway (hands tied to it aswell) and was continuously slapped in the face, and i felt really sorry for him. Cause i know what its like. Nothings worse than getting beaten up where you can neither run away, or defend your self with your arms.
Another view of the Rec. The purple lines represent where in the early 80,s, other climbing artifacts use to exist, but that field has been plain for over 2 decades now. The red arrow points to a house where once upon a time, my lower body clothing (underwear aswell) was thrown into the back of their garden (that tall wooden fence didnt exist then, just the default waist high wire fence). At the time an old lady lived there, and when she came out, i had to ask her for my clothes back (cant of been pleasant for her having to keep diverting her attention away from me for obvious reasons). Some other kids thought it be funny to remove my clothes from me by force, till i was rendered indecently exposed, then throw them in someones garden. That under civil law would be classed as sexual assault.
Quite a few incidences happened in this road (Gough Crescent). The green arrow just points to a detached house that never originally existed. The Semi Detached house next to it on the left use to have a large lateral garden next to it on the right (where now that detached house stands). The council obviously realised that by building another house on that land instead, they would earn more revenue. If you look very carefully at the gap in the wall to form the entrance to the footpath is, your notice the age difference between the brick near the entrance, and the bricks for the rest of the wall (as of course there never use to be a break at all).
Anyway onto the interesting stuff now. The purple arrow points to a house where back in 1981, i knocked on their door, and asked them "is it time for willies poo poo?". This was a prank that about 5 older boys set me up to do. They pointed to that house and told me Nigel's auntie lives there. As a supposed favour for him (cause i wanted to get in their clique of course) they asked me to ask for Nigel "is it time for willies poo poo". They told me "Willies poo poo" was a fancy snack that was his favourite. And if i asked, she would hand it to me to hand to Nigel.
Come on i was only 5 then, how was i to know lol?. When i did the deed, the woman was understandably oblivious to all of it. If a young boy knocked on my door and asked me something like that, and i could see 5 11 year old boys waiting on bikes outside watching.....well its obvious they put the boy up to it. One of them afterwards asked me to do it to another house, fogging me off with the same BS tho. But this time, the snack i was to ask for on someone else's behalf was called "Affuck". Luckily i dont remember that prank happening in the end tho (rolls eyes).
The brown arrow represents where i fell of an old Chopper bmx (cant believe they,ve come back into existence again tho) back in 1984 coming down the hill you can see in the background. I skidded across the road mainly on my face, and scrapped alot of skin away. This really really really hurt!!!!!!!!. I had to miss a week of school cause of it. Luckily a man in a garden (where the green arrow is pointing) saw me on the floor crying my eyes out and bleeding from the face.
This photo just shows the far end of the rec. Those are in actual fact, the second set of frames to exist in this rec. In the late 80,s, the original ones were demolished, and replaced with these. The old set didnt have a round a bout or have soft padded floor. Just hard unforgiving concrete. The arrow pointing to the tree, that tree has always been there i think. Not like something that large can escape your notice. The other arrow points to where i had a fight with a kid 1 year younger than me in 1990. But he was big and brutal tho. The fight went on for 45 mins (stopping and starting). In the end 3 older boys jumped me when i fought back against that other kids younger cousin joining in (chavs just have no honour do they....assholes!!!!).
The black railings never use to exist at all. I dont know why they were put there to be honest. I remember sometimes we use to think it was funny to climb into the baby swings. Then once your in there everyone rushes over to prevent you from climbing out, then they grab your ankles and basically start yanking you (so you get your crouch smashed against the swing barrier that's spose to stop infants from falling out through the swing forwards).
not much to say in this one. This is just the entrance situated at the bottom of Hillbourne Road to both woodlands and Edwina Drive. Back in the 80,s, none of them houses existed. All that was there was either woodlands or long yellow grass (where Adders inhabited). The houses got built in the early 90,s. I remember once upon a time during their contrustion, we all went over their in the envening (when no building work was taking place) and larked around. We started tresspassing in loads of the partly constructed houses, and started throwing left out tools and perephials (i.e. nails) around. So neither that concreate path, railings, lampost or houses use to exist. Just tree,s and natruel turf (hence why this area looks so shrubby).
This is just simply further down the path from the previous photo, so you can see the houses more clearly. If you look to the right where the metalic railings are, beyond them looks to appear to be a long ditch. That use to be an active stream.
this is just the same as the above photo but taken from a different angle. Nothing else to say really.
This is simply a shot from the middle of what was spared of the actual woodlands when the houses were built. I got lost in these woods once on my own when i was 5. For some reason i had a row with my mum and just went over there on my own. Luckily a resident from one of the houses in Hillbourne Road heard me, and guided me out of the woods.
This is just a photo of the top entrance to the woodlands situated in Hillbourne Road (Hillbourne road dose progress into a continuos uphill gradiant). Nothing has really been altered in this entrance at all (apart from the wooden sign), and even the piller is still the same one i think?.
Nothing much here, just the back of 2 semi detatched houses from inside the woodland. The house on the right has the original windows that came with the house after it was built, whilst the one on the right dosent. Hardley anyone had double glazing back in the 80,s, as it was exspensive, and the council did not provide them themselves.
where all the houses are was once upon a time all long yellow grass, the trees on the left are just simply part of the woodland the grassland joined. Parents always told their children not to go in that area cause of the Adders. They use to say "carefull of the adders, they have black zig zaggy patterns on their backs". Now the adders in this area have Burberry or Von Dutch on their backs (sorry couldent resist that one lol).
