Danger Danger's 2nd release saw the band moving in a more guitar based direction with the keyboards of "Kasey Smith" being pushed way back in the mix,as soon as the riff to lead off track "Monkey Business" kicks in,it's obvious that "Andy Timmons" has brought a new dimension to the Danger Danger sound, within seconds it is clear that this is one hell of a well produced cd,huge drums, stunning guitar sound and huge polished chorus's,it's a huge wall of sound that you cant help but love. It's obvious from the lyrical content of the songs that Danger Danger are having a hell of a good time, with no time at all for serious deep lyrics, they have their tounges planted firmly in their cheeks and are loving every minute of it,if any band can get away with calling a track "Slipped her The Big One",then it's Danger Danger. "Beat The Bullet" is up next, and things are still going strong,a hook filled anthem that would fill any stadium anywhere in the world, next up is the monster ballad "I Still Think About You",Ted Poley sings it with such passion and this time we actually get to hear some keyboards,i'm a sucker for a big ballad, and this still ranks as an all time fav. "Get Your Shit Together" is an uptempo rocker full of swagger and bravado but it just doesn't hit the mark for me,there is something missing that i cant quite put my finger on. "Crazy Nites" is a differant story all together, now this is a cock-rock anthem if there ever was, blasting from the speakers with huge backing vocals and a stellar riff it's the ultimate party song and leaves you with a huge smile on your face,"Puppet Show" lets "Andy Timmons" show off his guitar skills before "Everybody Wants Some" comes chugging along,it just screams "Stadium Rock" at you and leaves you in no doubt that Danger Danger are a class act,Def Leppard would be proud to have a song like "Everybody Wants Some" in their repertoire. By the time that "Dont Blame It On Love" hits you,you are left in no doubt that Danger Danger are the masters of the huge chorus, this is my favourite track from "Screw It" and should have been released as a single,It's pure good time rock n roll that takes you away and lets you forget about all the shit going on on life, things get all mellow and acoustic for "Comin Home",it has a laid back vibe that conjures up thoughts of a hot summers afternoon just kickin back and chillin out, they dont leave you with those thoughts for long though as "Horny S.O.B" pounds from the speakers and kicks you in the teeth like a size 12 Doc Martin boot, another cock-rock classic. Things then slow down with the ballad "Find Your Way Back Home" and it shows a much more mature side to the band, which actually works really well. The last couple of tracks are just goof-ball tracks with "Yeah,You Want It!) being an attempt at rap,it's actually really funny and once again shows that Danger Danger dont take themselves to seriously and just wanna have some fun. Once again Danger Danger have produced a stunning example of how rock n roll should be done, music is entertainment, and there's nothing more entertaining than Danger Danger. Coc'ometer Score--9/10 |
