At the end of last season, we see that Buffy is running away. Well, in Anne, Buffy has moved to a big city, probably LA or somewhere around those lines, and has changed her name to Anne. She lives in a icky small apartment by herself and works as a waitress. While working one day, Buffy comes across a young woman who recognizes Buffy. Later, we find out this is the weird girl who worshipped vampires in "Lie To Me". She has now changed, and has a new bf.
Meanwhile, Willow, Xander, Oz, and Cordy are in charge of slaying the vamps while Buffy's gone, all the while worrying, along with Giles and, of course, Joyce, about Buffy. Joyce blaims Giles for her daughters runaway, and looks to be almost giving up hope.
Back in the city, the vamp gal, Lily, comes to Buffy for help. Her bf is missing and since Buffy knows all, wants her to help locate him. And that she does. When Buffy finds this guy he's dead (duh) but *!* he's about 50 yrs older than he was a day ago! Smelling something fishy, Buffy investigates this weird Hope program for homeless kids. Little does she know, that Lily has gone there for hope after she finds out her bf is no longer of the living. Whoa.
Well, something weird is-a-lurkin'. This weirdo guy who runs the Hope thang tries to get Lily to cleanse herself, but in the process Lily, Buff, and the guy (Ken) get sucked down into this black ick hole. Down there they find out that Ken is this ugly monster guy who's kidnapping homeless kids and making them work until they are too old. You see, 100 yrs in their world, which seems to me much like a basement, is, like, one day in the real world. Well, as we all know Buffy kicks major butt, and rescues a few, not all, of the kids and herself and brutally kills Ken.
Buffy gives Lily her apartment and waitressing job after they escape 'that place'. Buffy returns home, hugs her mom, cue the closing credits.
Questions
This season premiere was fabulous, albeit there were a few unanswered questions:
Who were those weird guys?
What were the kids working for?
Where were they?
Since Buffy was down there for a while, wouldn't she be at least a few yrs older?
If anybody has any theories, I'd be glad to hear them!
Scenes I'd Like To Have Seen
The reunion of Buffy and the scooby gang. Maybe next week.
Flubs
After Buffy blows her cover, the doorman (Jeff Pruitt) starts to close the door.
Notice that he's holding the door so that the inside of his palm is facing Buffy.
After she kicks the door, we see that the back of Jeff's hand is now facing
Buffy, instead of his palm.
After Willow's scream interrupts Xander and Cordy's fight, we see Cordy
immediately run towards Willow, with Xander right behind her. In the very next
shot, time has been backed up a little bit to show Oz running in the same
direction while Xander and Cordy are still standing in Xander's hiding spot.
However, their actions are slightly different this time. Xander quickly dashes
ahead of Cordelia before she starts running towards Willow.
For most of the episode, Buffy wears a purple tanktop under a black, hooded
sweatshirt. However, after she beats up the guards and tells the other
runaways, "Anyone who's not having fun here, follow me," the camera angle
switches to behind Buffy. She spins around, and suddenly Buffy is wearing a
teal tanktop under her sweatshirt. For the rest of the episode, the tanktop is
purple again.
As part of the outfit that Buffy wears for the last half of the episode, she wears a
pair of white Nike shoes. During several scenes, you can see a red Nike
swoosh symbol on the side of her shoes. However, after Lily pushes Ken off
the balcony and Buffy knocks down a couple guards, watch Buffy's shoes as
she proceeds to climb a chain up to the balcony. Instead of the white Nike's,
they are now a pair of light gray canvas shoes. Since both Sarah Michelle Gellar
and Sophia Crawford (her stunt double) were wearing the same white Nike's during the battle on
the floor, perhaps a different stunt double was used to climb this chain. If it's
still Sophia, then this scene was probably shot on an entirely different day, and
the continuity person flubbed the shoe choice.
