He was named after the Beatles song "Hey Jude."
He co-founded an independent production company, Natural Nylon, with friends Sean Pertwee, Sadie Frost, Ewan McGregor, and Jonny Lee Miller. The group formed this company so that they could move on in their careers on their own terms (Jude and Sadie were saying that they always got type-cast).
"The reality is who you are in the morning. You can’t wake up knowing you’ve broken someone’s heart, or had yours broken. Fame is not the secret to happiness. Half the actors and actresses walking up the red carpet on Oscar night think they have arrived, and you never hear of them again." --Jude (from Harper's July 1999 issue)
Some critics call Jude the modern-day Cary Grant or Gregory Peck.
Sadie saw Jude in "Les Parents Terribles" and turned down every other role offered for a part in "Shopping"--that was the movie they first met in.
"Lots of people have affairs, but I knew immediately that Jude was The One." --Sadie, referring to her admiration of Jude from afar... during her first marriage (from Harper's July 1999 issue)
Jude dropped out of school at 17, to pursue his acting career.
He and Ewan McGregor used to be roommates!
In Enemy at the Gates, Jude co-stars with Shakespeare in Love's Joseph Fiennes. Director Jean-Jacques Annaud remarked, "It's interesting to film a movie with such exquisitely polite and good-looking men. I got the feeling that women were falling for these guys wherever we went." --from EW's August 18/25, 2000 issue
