Synopsis (without Spoilers)

Danny telling the gang about his summer During the summer before their senior years, Danny Zuko [John Travolta] and Sandy Olsson [Olivia Newton-John] meet at the beach. Their summer fling seems not meant to last, though, since Sandy lives in Australia.

At Rydell High, the "T-Birds" and "Pink Ladies" are excited about their senior years. The T-Birds, composed of guys, are led by Danny, and include Kenickie [Jeff Conaway] and a couple other guys. The Pink Ladies are led by Rizzo [Stockard Channing] and include such characters as Frenchy [Didi Conn] and others. Surprisingly, Sandy has found herself at Rydell High; apparently her plans had changed. She is at once introduced to the Pink Ladies. Rizzo is a bit sarcastic with her until she tells them (in song) about her summer fling with Danny.

At the pep rally, the principal mentions that their school has been picked to be broadcast on National Bandstand Television, with host Vince Fontaine. Here, we see that Sandy has joined the Cheerleaders, and has already made eyes at a jock; this group seems directly opposite of the T-Birds and Pink Ladies, who are cool and stylish, with their black leather and grease. Suddenly, Rizzo decides to introduce Sandy to Danny; they are excited at first, since they had thought they would never see each other again. Danny suddenly becomes conscious of his friends, and acts completely different. Sandy asks what happened to her Danny, and runs away, vowing to forget about him, as Danny forgets his act for a moment and looks after her longingly.

Reviews (with Spoilers)

King of the world... From beginning to end, the movie was enjoyable. No wonder it's a classic.

One of the best things about the movie is the multiple genres that it fills. There's singing, dancing, romance, comedy, and even a bit of action. Okay, some may call it a 'chick flick,' but even so, it's a great movie and musical. Even though some of us didn't live during those times, you can see and feel the atmosphere; it just shines through. It's one of those movies you can't criticize for the artistic interpretation or dialogue. How would you explain the 'something about it' that makes people want to sing along with it (it still amazes me how people can know all the words to all the songs!) and watch it over and over and over.

I have to admit that it wouldn't have been as good if it weren't for the humor that maintained throughout the entire movie. Even when Danny and the gang were trying to act cool, they were still a bit goofy. One of my favorite parts was Danny trying out different sports (that was priceless!) Hmm... some of those parts were strange though, like the 'hallucination' with Frankie Avalon. But the dancing was great, and the songs weren't so bad either, and so...
