The Real World on Colin
Matt:
I think of Colin as a true friend. We're buds. He's
an honorable, stand-up guy. I just like him. I hope
to be friends with him forever. Beacause of our
geographical proximity to each other, he'll probably
be my closest friend after leaving the show. We're up-front
and honest with each other. He can talk your ear off
about the roommates' negative aspects, but he can
also get along with them. He's a schmoozer.
Ruthie:
Colin's a fun guy. He's the last person I'd expect to
think was real. But on our trip to Hana, we just had
fun. We didn't worry about petty stuff. He doesn't
act older than he is and I appreciate that. Of the
whole house, Colin and I had the best time together.
Kaia:
I feel as though Colin was hesitant to
approach me for a while. Mainly, I think that was
because of my attachment to Justin. I'm sorry about
that. In may ways, Colin and Justin are polar
opposites in the way they approach things. I feel I
was where they met in between. I didn't really
appreciate Colin's humor when I first met him in
casting. But I got it later on. He's a friend who
brought out my lighter side. That said, Colin can be
so gross sometimes. He burps and farts freely and
likes to talk about it. That bothered me.
Justin:
I have a lot of hope for Colin's good qualities. He's
imapassioned, but also emotinally frail. I find that
very appealing. In retrospect, I think he got of easy
in the house. He was really self-consciously guarded
about his experience in the casting special. Aside
from the fact that he's the straight white alpha male,
I felt like he went on the show already having an
edge. Doing the casting special gave him that edge.
The entitlement rituals he danced during the show
were deeply sketchy. All that aside, I still caught
good glimpses of him. He's mostly fun.
Teck:
Colin's a good-looking nerd. He's young. When his
friends Mike and Trevor came into town, you could
really tell that. He was carefree. I wouldn't say
Colin grew up in Hawaii, but he did become more
comfortable with his surroundings. He was a fish out
of water who flapped around until he found the tide
pools.
Amaya:
I'm going to miss Colin very much. And I hope that
one day we can just be regular people and have a cup
of coffee together. Actually, neither of us drink
coffee, so hot chocolate. I care about Colin more
than he knows. I hope he enjoys college, has a lot of
fun, and finds love.
From the Control Room
Matt
Kunitz, Supervising Producer: Colin is a bit
of the fun boy next door. He's very humorous. And
during out time in Hawaii, he was also open and
honest. I think it was because he did the casting
speical that he was that way. He liked and trusted us,
and had the benefit of knowing what production goes
through. Yes, he's got a little bit of an attitude. I'd
say he's incredibly stubborn, but then so am I. The
two of us could really argue. I think he really
enjoyed that.
Mary-Ellis
Bunim, Creator: Colin's a star. Will he be
an actor? A sportscaster? Who knows? He's smart,
funny, great-looking, and I think he'll be a
fantastically successful person. Meanwhile, he's one
of the most likeable and relatable cast members we've
ever had on the show.
Jon
Murray, Creator: Colin used the confessional
to vent about his roommates, particlalry when he
thought they were being fake. If it weren't for the
confessoinal, I think he would have exploded.
