SEASON EIGHT


Events
•  Niles and Daphne turn around and go back to face the music.  
   Donny sues Daphne and Frasier for emotional distress.  Mel 
   agrees to give Niles a quick divorce if he appears in public 
   as her loving husband for a few weeks, allowing her to save 
   face by being the one to file.  Meanwhile, Daphne and Niles 
   have their true first date.
•  When Mel drags the masquerade on too long, Niles angrily declares 
   his love for Daphne in public.  Everyone sympathizes with Mel, and 
   she divorces him.
•  Donny drops the lawsuit, and marries someone else.
•  Frasier wins a SeaBea lifetime achievement award.
•  Frasier receives some free counseling from Dr. Tewkesbury, his old 
   mentor from Harvard.
•  Daphne gains sixty pounds, forcing her to be sent away to weight-loss 
   camp. (A plot device to cover Jane Leeves’s pregnancy and absence on 
   maternity leave)
•  Frasier and Niles resign from their wine club.
•  Upon her return, Daphne and Niles consummate their relationship.
•  Frasier becomes interested in Claire French, whose best friend is Lana 
   Gardner (Lorna Lenley from Season Seven).  Lana offers to set them up, 
   in exchange for Frasier tutoring her son, Kirby, allowing him to graduate 
   high school.  When Kirby refuses to study, Frasier bribes him by convincing 
   Roz to be his prom date.
•  Finale: Frasier takes Claire to Belize, accompanied by Martin, Niles, and 
   Daphne.  Frasier and Claire sleep together, but he is confused when he has 
   an erotic dream about Lana.
