SEASON EIGHT
Events
Niles and Daphne turn around and go back to face the music.
Donny sues Daphne and Frasier for emotional distress. Mel
agrees to give Niles a quick divorce if he appears in public
as her loving husband for a few weeks, allowing her to save
face by being the one to file. Meanwhile, Daphne and Niles
have their true first date.
When Mel drags the masquerade on too long, Niles angrily declares
his love for Daphne in public. Everyone sympathizes with Mel, and
she divorces him.
Donny drops the lawsuit, and marries someone else.
Frasier wins a SeaBea lifetime achievement award.
Frasier receives some free counseling from Dr. Tewkesbury, his old
mentor from Harvard.
Daphne gains sixty pounds, forcing her to be sent away to weight-loss
camp. (A plot device to cover Jane Leevess pregnancy and absence on
maternity leave)
Frasier and Niles resign from their wine club.
Upon her return, Daphne and Niles consummate their relationship.
Frasier becomes interested in Claire French, whose best friend is Lana
Gardner (Lorna Lenley from Season Seven). Lana offers to set them up,
in exchange for Frasier tutoring her son, Kirby, allowing him to graduate
high school. When Kirby refuses to study, Frasier bribes him by convincing
Roz to be his prom date.
Finale: Frasier takes Claire to Belize, accompanied by Martin, Niles, and
Daphne. Frasier and Claire sleep together, but he is confused when he has
an erotic dream about Lana.
