AN EVERLASTING PIECE |
2001 |
Director Barry Levinson's "An Everlasting Piece" is his attempt to capture some of the wacky humor of such British comic films as "Waking Ned Devine," and "The Full Monty." Here's the premise: two inept toupee salesmen try to sell their awful hairpieces to the warring factions in Belfast, Northern Ireland during the "troubles" of the 1980's. Working from this idea, Levinson should have had no trouble coming up with a comic hit. Instead, he trips over his own feet in trying to decide whether to make a comedy or a poignant message-film. The result is neither...just an annoying bore! |
