DON'T SAY A WORD

2001

If you thought that this looked like a good movie- well, think again. DON'T SAY A WORD plays out like a bad rewrite of RANSOM with a twist of... oh, who cares? Michael Douglas is a psychologist who takes on a young female mental patient who has recently turned violent. What he soon finds out is that she has valuable information that puts her life, and anyone who comes into contact with her, in danger. Mediocre plots like this one are sometimes hard to swallow, but throw in all of the mind-numbingly ridiculous details this film offers up and it's just a recipe for disaster. Douglas gives his standard good performance and Famke Janssen is fine, but Oliver Platt seems to like playing that same semi-neurotic smart-ass character and Brittany Murphy is not fooling anybody with her lackluster performance. Unless you haven't grown tired of the cute little kid charming and befriending the big bad kidnapper, this is a film to steer clear of.
